Here is my list of what I think are worthwhile upgrades: AND THE ORDER OF IMPORTANCE, I THINK >SERVOS Change the eflites immediately, there junk. I like hitech hs65mg. The hitech metal gear 65's, smooth as silk. *Note make sure whatever three servos u pick they are the same, the speeds need to match
>Gyro The stock is not horrid but the tail will blow out sometimes and cause unwanted crashes, as if their are wanted crahes. I used the futaba gy401 w supplied servo in the combo, good adjustability.
>FRAME Black carbon fiber or silver cf glass from cnchelicopter.com
*this frame is awesome!! for me it makes working on and maintaining the blade much easier! I hate the cheap plastic frame from eflite. this frame is awesome check out the pics at their web. Oh, did I say I love this frame.
>METAL HEAD & TAIL Point of this is to remove slop (plenty of it to remove). I use the eflite brand. The version available from cnchelicopter.com (same as frame above) looks to be identical to the align trex450 head and tail, probably better than the eflite version. ***Note use the original version align trex450 feather shaft w/ their supplied aluminum spacers(the newer trex 450 feathering shafts have a larger diameter). This setup provides u with 0.0 play in the main rotor blades. Please take note that when using these two aluminum spacers u need to lightly sand them with a piece of 400 grit sandpaper on a flat surface. If you dont sand their will be a slight bind, but again after sanding (just lightly, takes 2 minutes) they are perfect. Another benefit is there is one per side and they are big, not those paper thin stock spacers that easily will bet lost.
>Carbon fiber mains, paddles, rotor blades, and tail boom Nuff said the cf just looks to cool. One step that needs attention is the addition of some brite neon trim tape to the main rotor blades The solid black blades just disappear up in the sky (make sure to balance main rotors).
>body Again as above just to cool is the flame body from eflite, looks really good.
>SPEED CONTROL Not a big need to change. The stock eflite is rather cheap low amperage. You can not program the stock unit and it is only 25 amps, I think. The programing is not a big deal with spectrum radio, but is minor pain with futaba. If u use a futaba ( like the 7c) the throttle end points are wrong, u wont get full throttle. If u do keep the stock esc just remove the main rotor blades and give it full throttle and adjust ur throttle end ppoint to achieve full rpm. Some people say to remove motor to do this but i think its easier to remove the mains. I use the thuderbird 54 amp esc.
>Motor I replaced the blade 420 motor with the new blade 440. Personaly I cant tell much difference. Ur choice really.
*** again these mods are what i think to be in order of importance. Sim time and practice (in a logical sequence) are equally important. I started backwards trying 3d then the basics. Lots and lots of crashes, but good learning experience rebuilding the blade 400 50times!!
