The stock tail slider works just fine with a little bit of extra TLC ( tender, love, care). If you are scared of the way it all locks together with the star ring because of failures reported here on runryder I'll briefly explain what I do to make it more secure. I press the star ring on by hand carefully and evenly to where there is no back and forth end play/wobble and so the bearings are not notchy. I then take a razor knife and put a groove around the edges of the teeth on the brass slider. Lastly I mix up a little bit of 30 minute epoxy and then carefully fill in all around the end of the brass slider into the crevices of the star ring where it attaches. Some people do this with JB weld also and it will work as well. Let the epoxy cure properly for a good 24 hours and it should have excellent holding power.

There's also the c-clip mod by Jim, he slots your brass slider then gives you a couple c-clips and shims, I use this mod and it works great.

Hey,

I just use a better quality star locking washer which are available from most hardware suppliers.

On both my synergy's the star locking washer was not a very good fit on the brass bushing, i've since replaced with the starlock washer below which is a much better fit on the bushing and it takes quite a bit of force to punch it onto the bushing and you can see it dig into the brass, so this washer is doing what it's supposed to do.

You can get them from most Engineering suppliers, i got some 8mm ID starlock washers and they were spot on.

Cheers!
