I thought my Century friends would find this funny, I know I did,,

man O man,, in 9 years of flying I had my first forced Auto do to a Flame-out and it blew my mind LOL,, I was in such awe wondering what happen, it took me 2, 3 seconds to think "hit the Auto Switch",,
the guys said I was up maybe 40ft, I would say more like 30ft, she was out over the high grass when she flamed-out on me, and the nose just happen to be in the wind (what luck cause it was very windy today, so as I hit the A-Switch all I could think is that I would loose HS and I would dump it in the high grass and damage it, but at that second I remembered "push the nose over some" and she flew down right over to the cut grass, I started to give'r pitch at about 5ft, then lowered the pitch at about 2ft, she hit the ground at about 0 pitch just right and skidded to a stop,,

the thing is like I said, I haven't had a heli engine flame-out on me in 9 years, it just blew my mind, but she lives to fly again LOL

Awe,,

I had one on Sunday. Heli came across the runway at 40ft and started to gargle. I turned it around, engine died, hit the auto switch and put her down almost in front of me. It turns out that the glow plug went out. Luckily I do practice autos.

Way To Go, Jim!!!

Although auto-rotations are just plain fun, the continued practice of this manuver will eventually pay off (as it did with you). Every time ( and I mean "every time" I go flying, autos are part of my routine. I guess you can equate it to like learning to ride a bicycle for the first time. The more and more you do it, the more proficient you will get.

Now, if you have the kahunnas try the high ones and do some flips, rolls or anything you'd like to try, while auto rotating down.

haha way to go! just think, you can induce that adrenaline rush anytime with a flick of a switch - no need to wait for a flameout.
