My Posts This: Topic Forum | On behalf of the Houston Sport Flyers I would like to thank all who attended for making our first annual funfly at great success! We are TOTALLY blown away that on such short notice and with such crappy weather immediately preceding the event that we still managed to host an impressive FIFTY-THREE registered pilots.
Everyone had their fill of TOTALLY FREE Coffee, Doughnuts, Fish-Fry, Hush Puppies, Fries, Chocolate Cake, Soft Drinks and bottled water and nobody had to listen to a Time Share Condo sales pitch or had to buy Amway or anything! Ya just had to show up, sign-in, fly, and have a great time.
We are definitely going to open up more flight stations next year. I sincerely hope that everyone got their fill of flying. A couple of guys did report that they almost burned a gallon. It was curious though to see people waiting in line to fly in front of the wind sock. I couldn’t figure that out until I watched Simon doing funnels around it and I realized that it’s just like G4.5 flying at the sod farm!
The full-scale jet Ranger showing up was awesome to ogle and drool over thanks to Mark Spies. Dude you are just way too cool. Dale’s Jetcopter was a nice flight as well (must have had a lot of expo in that program to have smoothed out those shaky stick movements ).
Creighton Carr was there putting on a superb show with some really impressive piloting skills. He really has those reversing piro maneuvers nailed. I hear he did an impressively low stop-blade auto recovery. Dang I missed that one!
The drag races and auto contest were a blast with plenty of contestants in both and the plaques were the nicest I have ever seen (all the way to third place) and since Nathan and Ron didn't show they were totally up for grabs
So, for everyone who enjoyed the fish fry, I’d like you to know that that is the 3rd year we have used that fry oil. The flavor is just about piqued. We drained it out of the fryers and stored it back in the oil pan of the tractor to “season” it again for another year so mark your calendars for this event cause we going to do it again about a year from now.
I would like to extend a special notice of appreciation to Todd & Susan Brueggeman, David Braunagel, John Norwood, Billy Howard and Michael Funk for totally making this happen. This club is unbelievable and I am totally proud to be a part of it.
See you next year!!
P.S. Thanks again to Heliproz and Larry's hobbies for the goodies and sponsorship! |
