i should have tested the receiver better , my own stupid mistake

i have to work with this every day , so i am going for the boomtruck

spending an other 10.000 on a maxi joker with Carvec is to much for me , i lost this thing in like 2 minutes , and when something goes bad , you loose it all together

i did the wrong thing , i bought this system totally relaying on the Carvec, thinking it would be totally stable

there are a lot of little things that have to go right ...but if 1 thing fails ..your wrecked

for me ? not a daily workable situation for photography

to many investments .. to many risks for a too low payoff

i go for the boomtruck

see you guys.

"the road is avila road in concord , at the end , it crashed behind the first hill on the right ...

i couldn't reach it , so i left it"

Dude...I know how you felt when it crashed, but how are you going to feel next week about leaving it there?

Go back and get it if somebody else hasn't gotten it already.

i am gonna pick it up tomorrow early ...
save some money , build it up and get lessons from a guy in San Jose..

until i can do it ...

its the first time i crash like that

i thought i would be ok with the stabilisation

i felt that the receiver was not responsive after a certain distance ...a very good lesson

tomorrow i see what is left

thanks

10K down the drain . that is not good.

I am sure their is tons of materials to be salvaged. No matter how bad your crash is there will be many things which likely to not have got spoilt.

It's 10K down the drain because you left it there. That's a choice you made.

I guarantee you you can rebuild it. I know how you feel and it sucks big time. Believe me. In less than a year I racked up 9 crashes with the MJ2. First one being a total lost. I'm up to 11 now and learning to smile after each one because each crash teaches me a new lesson.

Suck back, regroup and bash on. Pick it up and start from the basics. Learn to fly the heli with the basic gear. You got an entire forum here to help you along the way.

Good luck.

+1 to nooobs...spoken like a true pro IMHO.

It might not be encouraging crash but you can and will improve and make it safe sooner or later. Sometimes we need to learn to walk before we learn to run..or fly in our case ..

Good luck in which ever path you want to take.

hi guys thank you for the feed back

i will definitely continue , i am totally new at this , and expected the thing to fly better , i bought it 2nd hand , i will never do that again ...cause you don't know it weak points

sorry i am so goal orientated , that i bought exactlty the ship i wanted to fly

what the best way to do this , first buy a 450 helicopter for $500,- and fly that until i totally understand everything , flying and electronics ..instead of bashing $10.000 and get discouraged

i will do this , cause i want to be able to make great aerials for my architect clients

but i will take smaller financial steps to get the experience that is needed

i know one thing what what let to this crash was the not reliable transmitter connection , cause i saw jumps in the altitude which i didn't create

by the way, i am positively surprised by all the helping remarks , thats really cool to know , that you guys like to help each other, thats really cool.

bye

Rvanr, do you have a SIM to practice with?
Having someone to fly with is great, but even when you have flying buddies those moments taken on a SIM go a long way towards "thinking" flight.

+1 on the simulator.

I spent 400 hours on the sim before my first flight. Glad I did.

If I had to do it all over again I'd get a Trex600 as a practice heli. It's close to what you want to fly later on.

Have a read through this. It's how I started.

So, did you find it?

rvanr: That's sad to hear.

Did you have the CARVEC flight recorder fitted ?. If you did, I will be able to tell you exactly what happened.

I would go collect the pieces : you will not have damaged the main CARVEC system : it is very tough.

It's a good lesson to anybody who thinks any stabilisation system takes away all the risk. There are a thousand other things which can go wrong and the best defense you can have against them is experience.

I add another vote for the TRex 600 as a training machine. It's cheap and easy to fix - and you can get the parts anywhere. Plus it flies well and feels much more like the bigger machines then the 500 (or similar).

Get a sim and a Trex 600. Go get your Heli and more importantly get that CARVEC !!! Contact JohnC and he will dial in that CARVEC for your next heli.

go one by one on servos(give gentle pressure by hand and see if servo knocks or misses or any funny noises ),gyro, esc, motor to check what is good and what is not.

btw i hope you checked for solid light before you started flying on the receiver. Go through the manual of 2.4 and see how you need to mount the extensions. You can also buy extra antennas receivers for your rx to be doubly sure.

If you are paranoid , you can look at the powerbox systems for twin receiver solutions.

a crashed chopper always looks really screwed even if its a simple topple or basic boom strike.

I am curious to know what all you could salvage.

Hi , what is a pitty is that the ball bearings of the main rotor are totally &%^#&%!!

because i fitted the battery under the airframe , the airframe is actually undamaged

the tail is broken off , carvec barometric pressure sensor is gone , thats to bad , and the gps receiver is gone to ...

main carvec system i had put in the original battery bay of the Maxi joker , so that is not damaged , connectors are all good

rotor blades gone of course and flybars are bent

well you know

-SIM
-TREX 600
-updated and checked carvec system a little bit later

first the Simulator , i always liked video games so there we go.
no risks this upcoming year....
