Hi FR4,
I did see all of your posts, PM, and emails. None of your pictures came through on your post here though. Can you please send your helicopter in to us for evaluation? We'll take a look at it, and if there is excessive wear, then I'll be happy to replace any part for you. About how many flights do have before you notice the .003" wear on the plastic ball? Again, please send it in to us at:

If you're using the stock Hirobo transmitter, then send it in as well. Otherwise send in the heli only.

I'm glad this issue is posted because mine is doing the same thing. Very few flights and no crashes. I thought it was an out of balance tail rotor at first but I checked it and its fine. The vibration is at a certain RPM. Almost like a rattle sound...

Just chiming in

I just want to let it be known that I have this problem, too. The first time it got really bad was in June, when my Quark was only about 2 months old. It was much worse than what John's video shows -- at hover, my tail would suddenly twitch 90-180 degrees.

I replaced both the tail drive shaft and the tail unit, and everything was great again for maybe 20-50 flights. Then it started again.

Though nobody else has mentioned it, I also found my battery life is affected by this -- on my last few flights, the comfortable flying time is down to about 4 minutes from the normal 7-8.

Since I had the lock up issue, I hadn't thought much about the vibe issue until mine got worse and you got further into your tail shaft remedies followed by your resent results. As you know I have enough to build a new tail, but held off because I posted my Quark for sale. Just might pull it in the interest of my own integrity and keep it if it can not be fixed.

Edit - Besides as the Quark is not a stick banger, it hasn't really been an issue. However; I may order a new motor just to validate the issue.

That sounds like a $100.00 fix for a $300.00 helicopter. I hope there is a more reasonable solution.

No extra tail motor otherwise I would have already replaced it. May have to buy one just so I can validate and contribute to the cause.

Took my Quark off the "for sale classifieds". Thought the rudder input vibration was expected of all the Quarks. Going to keep it for now to help work out a solution to the problem.

Just not worth a possible unhappy buyer nor the challenge to my integrity.
