Just got my kit. Ordered YS91SR3C.
Reading through the existing posts.
Any hints and tips?
What Paddles are being used? I'm told SAB 40g FAI no longer available.

personally i would use CY 105MM Stubs for 3D or with the optional weights in the centre of the flybar each side if used for F3C.

What flying are you going to do

3D or FAI

I have used SAB FAI paddles, but now use the RT FAI paddles

Can't comment on paddles for 3D though.

If my record is anything to go by, I'll be doing a lot of crashing. If I could choose which way I was able to fly, it would not be 3D, although I'm not really in a position to be choosy.
I've managed to find some 40g SAB paddles, but also have my eye on the Rotortech FAI.
I am also the proud new owner of a Funtech 381, delivered today, but header too short, it interferes with the fuel tank. Need to find an extension.

I would not have considered the Avro to be a good choice of model if your expecting to crash due to a lack of ability??

a) It seems much to nice a heli for that.
b) Would be very costly.

Just my opinion, it's your cash to crash!

I have to agree with others here..

This is a very expensive Heli to fly, let alone crash on a regular basis.

I still fly my Align 500, and 600N on a regular basis. I would rather crash a cheaper Heli than the Avro. I speak from experience!!!

Build up your time and ability on an inexpensive one and start to fly the Avro after you've gotten more proficient.

But this is my opinion... It's your call..

I hope you make the right one. I'd hate to see you with this most pristine of all heli's in parts all the time...

I found the SAB 25G 4mm paddles with the included 10G weights (35G total) work out pretty good. a little bit faster in cyclic than the rotor tech. i think the thick airfoil helps. still very nice in the hover. this is with SG720 RotorTech FAI blades...

I now have 2 sets of the SAB, both 40g.
I've ordered some Funtech 680-SR 700mm blades, and yesterday I bought a 2nd hand set of K&S 680mm semi-symmetrical main blades.

Everyone crashes, I crashed my avro twice and 2 times almost about to crash and one time almost about to crash for a total loss.

But what people are saying is, if you are a beginner, just be careful.

Use some expo, or else you will go knife edge pretty quickly.

I do sports flying and I love the align trex 700 paddles with flybar weights.

Funtech sells the muffler mounting extension. You will need a 3mm extension. Once you install the extension you will find it difficult to tune the YS engine below 1900 rpm.

Do post some pictures.
