Do some people belittle another for their choices? I often wonder if the fun has gone out of the hobby for them and if they themselves don't realize it. Granted, I too have jumped on this wagon, when I should have kept my mouth shut, but I am a mature adult male capable of making an informed decision. Those of us who take the time to research a line of products usually make the right choice the 1st time out. I know it goes back to the Ford/Chevy thing about loyalties, but this whole hobby revolves around having fun for the buyer. Why do some people automatically jump a person for the machine they selected? When I see this my 1st thoughts are"Hey you want me to check it out, then pony up some of YOUR money and I will!"
But, until you do it's MY money and I'll spend it the way I want to.
With the economy being the way it is right now and any extra scratch being hard to come by,what makes anybody feel that they have the right to influence (being it bad or good) about the decisions they should make about what they intend to buy?
I am aiming this at the nay sayers of the Pantera, but this goes as to any product we may have an interest in purchasing. You may say I made a bad choice, I say I made an informed decision, but guess what? I didn't see you offering to buy me anything different, so again MY money = MY choice. For the nay sayers,John Beech, ponied up the money, IE buy 1 get the other half off. Can anyone out there tell me of another company doing this? With a machine thats worth MY money and time?
Instead of trying to convince people that YOU(as in just 1 face in the crowd,a single individual) think they made a bad decision, why not devote your time to helping them learn to enjoy the hobby as much as you do or did? If your bored with the hobby get out, or change gears and help others. Instead of being negative about certain products, try and help people make an informed choice, but don't cruise the forums talking smack, most of the people here are smarter than that, than to just buy into somebody else's line of trash talk.
The person looking to, or already flying helis are of a different breed, they are not usually the pushovers you may think them to be. They come here to do research about what they may be looking to buy or have already bought, but when you start talking trash it's just that much more junk that they have to sift through to get to what they are looking for. As a side note, if all a person sees from certain posters is trash, how credible do you think you will be when you really do have a point to make? Share your knowledge, not your trash.
If you really want to make a change in someone else's decision, you have to be 4 things to even have a chance. 1. Respectful. 2. Honest. 3. Informed. 4. Helpful. I wonder if you nay sayers have what it takes.

HERE-HERE

I agree with you Thomas. It bet Billebob will be in here soon to jack this thread. But you are right. I have a Pantera and it flys just as good if not better then any other ships out there. And the price John letting them go for, I plan on buy 2 more. one just so I can big block it and make a Drag Racer out of. the Only thing holding back at this time is all the gear I need to get them in the air. After I bought my 1st one. I ordered everything new from Ron Lund. And that what I plan to do after I get my 2nd and 3rd. Just putting back the bucks right now. The Racer is going to have the top of the line gear. The other is going to be my sport flier just like my 1st.

Keep flying and forget about them Idoits who think they are better because they got the latest thing. I remember when Raptors was the thing to have. Now I one of the hold out who still have both of mine.

Is it the weekend yet?

It's not even about the newest,greatest...

Thanks Scott,Charlie. I started this thread not to impart praise upon the Pantera(great bird for the money),but to try and get people to understand that negative, mudslingin trash talk just really doesn't fly amoungst those of us here that make an informed choice. What one thing talks louder than anything else right now is money. For those of us coming here to look and research for different things, why should we let anybody influence our choices about how we spend our hard earned dollars when it comes to having fun? Am I missing something? Isn't this hobby supposed to fun and gratifying? Wouldn't we all enjoy it more if everybody just tried to help each other instead. I can't understand why when it seems somebody is struggling to keep their head above water, somebody else has to show up and and hold them under. Whatever happened to lending a hand to someone in need? I am pretty sure that this same said attitude has put us as a country where we are at today. Gone, it seems are the days when we would reach out and help the person beside us. I don't fly as well as some of the other pilots in my circle, probably because I am working on their machines more then mine and it's ok. I can say that it feels just about as good to see them have a successful and fun filled flight on a machine I helped them with as if I flew it myself. The looks on their face is payment enough and seeing the machine fly without a hitch or glitch tells me I am doing the right thing.
I guess the reason I stand behind John's machine the way I do is because he listens to what people have to say(good and the bad)about his product and tries to improve upon it and the pilots flying of it. I have told him that "you can't be all things to all men", but it doesn't seem to detour him any.
For those of you out there looking to buy ANY heli, poke around,do some research, make an informed choice, but don't be swayed by someone else's bad or good opinion of a product. Take the good with the bad and sort it out for yourself. If you take the time to do this, NOBODY, can or will, make you feel that you made the wrong choice. I know for myself it's hard to be objective sometimes so when somebody asks if my choice in helis flys well, I show them, and if they can fly,I let them take the sticks.

Timely Post

As a volunteer for IRCHA 2009, I'm collecting my thoughts on what to present in the "Heli Clinic" sessions that will be taking place over at Site 3 this year.

This is going to be a closing thought to minds I hope to help along...

"When on the Forums, speak as if you are face-to-face AND there's a tape recorder present...you are NOT anonymous sitting in front of your keyboard. Each post leaves a little insight to the type of person you are."

Hobbies

I participate in several hobbies like R/C for example. In each of those hobbies, there are people I come into contact with who are amazingly nice, friendly, & helpful. I have met very few people who did not fall into the previously mentioned categories. These forums shock me sometimes with the negative talk, mostly brand related it seems. I agree that these people are probably not at there local club spouting off this kind of non-sense.
An opinion is an opinion, we can all be misunderstood through the written word, and we're not always going to get along. The only difference here is that you have to go out of your way to not get along, because all you have to do is not go there. If the problem is with John Beech, then don't enter the Audacity forum, it's really that simple. If we were all face to face, things wouldn't go down like this, I'm sure!
We can agree to disagree, let's just move on after that. Maybe we can get together and have a beer with Obama?

I really wonder about some of these guys that are spouting off, ef they are actually members of the "club" at all... for instance... Bilebob, or whatever he calls himself, cannot actually specify a helicopter he has, nor does he have a gallery with picture one in it. Personally, I think there should be some "ground rules" on this site which would qualify you to even participate. Firstly you would agree to be cordial. I'm not sure what other requirements might be, but that one would be a definate requirement.

I know many of the other heli pilots in this area, and NONE of them act like this. They are all very knowledgeable guys, very personable, and willing to help at the drop of a hat. We have a fun time ALWAYS at the field.

One requirement I think that would make things much different here would be verification to join. AND, everybody uses their real name. No surnames. You could have a nickname, and even use it, but you would be required to be verified as if this were a pay site. Notice that Billebob states that he is smart enough not to tell his name... One thing for sure... if some of these guys talked the way they talked to us here face to face, they'd likely get their a@@ kicked by someone...

My two cents, as JB says.

How can I soar with the Eagles when I work with turkeys??

Gotta laugh at that one billm...

And a hardy ya think??!! goes along with it. Gus, well said as well. Why would you come here and be an a$$ if you are not that way in the real world? I am quite honored when someone asks me to take alook at their machine and check their setup, sort out any problems and help them fly. It really is very rewarding to help get another pilot and bird in the air. If this is inpart in any way to what JB feels when he sells and then helps somebody to get one of his helis flying,I can truly see why he spends so much more effort and time doing it.

And the big thing for me (apart from being a great heli - superior in many ways) - is the fact that Audacity is not a faceless corporation.

In this day and age - when so many jobs are being moved overseas or further south - its nice to talk to a "local" guy who shares and enjoys the same hobby as us.

Do the naysayers think anyone at the "big" manufactures - gives a rats behind as to what we really care and think - no - as long as their sales keep moving along. Do they think they could ever get anyone on the phone from upper management at any of these companys - good luck.

How many of you have had a frustrating phone call when dealing with tech support for many of the other items we use in our lives. (Im in Canada - but I know theres also alot of outsourcing for the U.S. Parent Companies of many Canadian Corporations up here)

Id rather see the money stay in North America - than overseas.

thanks JB for the product, the time and support - and caring.

Machinehead01, Well typed. I have been to some fun flys that a newbie shows up with his ship and can't get it to fly. I enjoy helping the chap set up his ship and get it in the air. I don't bad mouth the ship, but teach how to set it up. I would hope that my goodwill will help in the next buy. Wow, that "flight rep" dude helped me so much and I watched him fly....Mybe I should look into a Pantera.
Thats how I roll.
