Before I go fly this thing for the first time, thought you might like to see it. AR6100 receiver, Scorpion 2221-8 motor, Phoenix 45 ESC, HS5065 digital servos on the cyclic, JR DS3500G digital on the tail, Spartan 760 gyro. This is my first experience with a 450; my other helis are Gaui 200s, which I can tell you are a handful when you're just learning to fly. In fact, I bought the Beam with the hope of calming everything down so I could learn faster. It's been a beautiful kit, very satisfying to assemble. Everything about it is first class. I like my ESC and gyro locations; I'm not sure about my receiver location; I put it there to keep the pins accessible. It's clean and may work just fine. Nothing left to do but mount the blades and start low-altitude, fine-tuning flight tests (tracking, drift, etc.). Then we'll be ready to FLY!

Thanks for your help on the swash issue. The solution was to lengthen the servo-to-swash links about 3.5mm.

Very nice build!!!

1 tip.. turn battery 180 degrees so that leads comes out the top near the servo's, make the wires "shorter" so easier to fit canopy...

finally....

I am still short my TX, but the Beam has been built for a long time and I have been having a hard time figuring out how I want to run my gear. You've given me some nice ideas.
Questions:
1. Are those ferrel rings you wrapped your servo leads around??
It looks like your RX is mounted beneath your boom mount.
2. I'll try my Scorp 45A up front, but I think I remember that it
doesn't fit too well up there. Have to revisit.
3. What pack are you showing there. Still undecided on packs.

Clean install, I just keep jumping around. One way it's good for servo leads but crap for battery/ESC. One way it's something else.
I know I could always side mount the ESC, I just don't care for that look.
Anyway nice job and I hope mine will end up that clean!!

I don't think you you want to wrap your leads around the frame like that. I'm sure they will get cut.

fla heli boy,

I fiddled before settling on this arrangement; so far it's working just fine. The tail servo lead is just wrapped around the frame. Once I know everything's going to stay where I have it, I'll shorten the wires and get rid of the wraps.

I put the RX beneath the boom mount to have the plugs really accessible. They're not as accessible as I'd like, but it's better than inside the frame.

The Phoenix 45 fits the front tray really well. Once I started flying, I had to add a zip-tie to secure it better, but now it's solid.

Outrage packs.

I don't care for a side-mount ESC, either. Just an aesthetics thing. It will stay cooler out there; where I have it gets warmer. Warm is fine; it's hot you don't want.

If I were doing it a different way, I'd put the gyro under the boom mount for crash protection, put the ESC flat inside the frame where it gets cooling air (not sure the Scorpion would fit), and put the RX up front, maybe with end mounts that point forward.

My original ESC was a Scorpion 45, but I returned it because it was too big and got the Phoenix.
