Thanks Doorman. It has been repainted as shown here but it hasn't been flown for many months, to busy with my Razor 600E streched. When I started on the Chinook I fifured it would be realitivly inexpensive being it uses a lot of trex 450 parts. Boy was I wrong. Anyway it's flyable, just needs a lot of tweaking to get it from bobbing around like a cork on the water.

Worst Flight!!!!

In my defense, that was one of the worst flights I have ever made with my Vertol!!!! That was after I made an adjustment to the front head and had gone the WRONG direction!!!! It is back to really flying now!!!! (But thanks for posting it Chuck!!!:cool

Paul, you need to make room for the Vertol too!!!!! You know you wanna!!!!!

hootowl, I recognize that "Hook"..... Greg is going to be the newest tandem driver.... how did it look????? I have to tell you, I was with him the first time that he lifted it into the air and he did GREAT... some time on the machine and we are going to be racing these things together!!!!!!!!

Wrong Way!!!!

Hello Wayne,

The adjustment I had made was to the 3 front swash links to increase the pitch on the front head (1/2 turn each!!:eek.... and that just made it that much more sensitive.... come to find out though, that it was my ELEV GYRO GAIN had a unexplained value in it.... I am running at 75% gain hi and lo and it works great... when I went in and checked it, I had 175 hi and 75 low.... reset that and you can watch the video from IRCHA now and you will notice a "SLIGHT" difference in the way it flys!!!!!! (Thanks Mark!!!!)

Hope this info will help you out...... Good Luck, Stan

Thanks stan

I will try reducing the gain on elevator to 75 same as yours. Mine is currently at 150 hi & lo. I have just changed the gyro tape again aswell to see if it makes any differance. Apart from the nose pitching up it flies well & now have the confidance & flying piroettes infront of me & left & right figure eight. Sound kinda basic after doing 3D but this is a machine in its own catagory thats for sure. Summers arriving here in New Zealand 3 weeks to day light saving & i will get a lot more flight time on it this year. I'll let you know how it goes.
Cheers wayne

Sorted Out!!!

Thanks Wayne,

Glad you liked it.... that was the warm up flight!!!! So I just let it "rip" a little, but I keep hearing this voice (PETER WALES) telling me to slow it down!!!!!!()
From the sounds of it you are very close to having it right and that setting on the elev gyro will make a huge difference in what you will be flying.... also, I have mine a bit nose heavy (if nitro on an empty tank) the nose is down about 1" when lifted from the CG....then trim you front pitch to match what you need in a hover and your first slow forward....but always be ready to add down on the right stick, but I have found that the real trick is to add the forward elevator and ADD a little PITCH at the same time to get that nose to come back down, and you will be flying in no time!!!!!!

Let us know how you do with yours and GOOD LUCK..... Stan
