You must be doing something wrong. I experience this occasionaly, but the power drop is a failsafe due to radio range or signal issues. I've got over 50 flights on mine and a friend has one also. If you are dropping out of the sky it has to be a radio battery (low) issue or antenna is coiled up under the heli. Let it hang/ dangle naturaly. Also check to see if you are set to "ADVANCED" pilot with the RX /TX (refer to manual as to how to do this) chances are you are indeed doing somethign wrong, because the Quark is perhaps the single most reliable "RTF" I have ever had the pleasure of flying in many years of RC experience.

I do remember your helicopter. I worked on it the first time, and Greg the second, and I was watching when Greg tested it the second time it was here. Each time we ranged checked it in our warehouse, and the range was over 100 feet with more to go but we ran out of space. And that's with a metal roof and being surrounded by metal racking. So I'm not quite sure why you're having what sounds like range issues. As others have asked, is the antennae on the transmitter fully extended? Did you wrap up the antennae on the heli? Look around where you're flying, are there any high tension wires, or transformers on the ground around you? Look for things that could cause you interference. The pratical range on this heli is under 150 feet, any further and you won't even be able to see it. And quite honestly, most of my flying with this heli is done within 50 feet of myself. Please let me know what you find.

Thanks.

Tim

Well i got my quark back from mrc.And i am having nothing but troubles...I have watched every video out there before i bought this heli..Looked like a nice deal steady flight and all..But this quark does not want to take off stable at all ....it takes off side ways most ..the trims are all set at the mid point ...GREG AT MRC SAID THAT WAS FINE....if AND WHEN I HAVE GOTTEN THE HELI TO FLY..The stick is so sentive the heli is every which way flying....I do have a cx2 and i understand this is a different heli ..but come on not even close to hands free flying ..ONCE in air you have to stick like a mother other wise your going to crash right away...I also have alot of time on g4 sim with all kinds of helis flying no issues...Here is how i start up this heli...I PULL THE Antenna out all the ways turn on controller with sticks all in the netrual position...I PRESS THE button to the rear of the heli a green light flashes 3-4 times then stays green..Now i push the left stick down and that green light now changes red.AT THIS point i then press the front button under the heli and this light now changes to green,,ThIS IS ALL DONE on a flat surface with no movement,,,,Then start the heli up and right away its going sideways ,so i push the stick oppisite way to counter that to get lift....As i do that its out of control ...Its when its up in the air your on the sticks hard to have it hover even for a very very short time....O i am flying inside no wind conditions,,,I understand you always must pay attention to the sticks but come on,,,,What am i missing here.....

Icerat,
Your helicopter was trimmed out here by Greg and I to fly as close to hands off as we could get it. The trims on the radio weren't centered, I believe it was 3 or 4 clicks down trim and about the same on left trim for the left stick. Very few helicopters, except for the coaxials which are inherently very stable, will hover hands off. And yours was very close to that when it left here. Helicopters require constant attention on the sticks to even get them to stay in one place, you're always making minor adjustments on the sticks. Also, when you take it up off the ground, don't take off slowly, you have to sort "pop" it off the ground and get it above waist height before you lower the throttle to a hover. Also, there is a tendency to over correct, which gives you the out of control feeling. You have to force yourself not to make large corrections on the sticks.

I got your PM, I'll answer that shortly.

Tim
