Hello all:

I know this is the trend. Do we really need all the pitch? like +/- 12 or 13..Cyclic at +/- 8

What are the benefits? I find that it bogs easier.

If it's bogging a lot, then you need to work on your collective management.

At +-8, you'll have to move the sticks farther out to do manuevers...with +-10 or higher you can move the sticks less and do more.

Why the pros always can do those "pop" effect when they fly?

Is that because of the acceleration function in Futaba?

if you come down lets say from a tail slide your main rotor gains speed and you can hear it even if the model is governed it overspeeds a little then you apply some pitch and there you have it!!

I think you get better with it as you fly. I've noticed that I do it more not even thinking about it. Something you get used to while playing with the collective.

I fly only 450's and I found that the best pitch range is 12* on colective and 9* on cyclic. You can do all what you want on this config Ultra fast tictoc's,nice pop's... it boggs? Yeah, but after some time, when you get better with col. mangament you can set even 14* on colective and it will not bugg

If you run a lot of headspeed and pitch you can do a pop by giving a very quick burst of full pitch. If you keep on it for too long it will loose it's effect. The hard part is managing your collective good enough so you don't use more pitch then you need too. For example a tic-toc doesn't need full pitch at all. If you do so there's a bigger chance of bogging. It's all abot collective management.

Some of it is Internet bravado. Your actual pitch range should be determined by what blades you use and your flying style. Some have two settings. One for when they want to pop the collective around and one for more technical maneuvers. Some complain about a brand of blades for bogging the head too much when really they could just take the pitch range down a degree and have the same overall effect their previous blades had. But it seems the suggestion of using less pitch is too counter intuitive and violates the Tim Taylor law. Granted the ever more powerful engines can pull this. Just know that as you approach +/-90 that you will see ever diminishing returns .
