Good day al
After a year and a half I'm now upgrading swift16 from 5 to 6cell lipo and I need to change the main gear sincw it got stripped.

The problem is I am having a lot of difficulty pulling it our and I do not want to damage anything else in the process.

Ever since the kit was built the mainshaft was never removed. If the grease, esc over time cause it to sieze up, can i safelyl use wd40 to loosen?

Are you sure it is not binding where the grub screws dent the shaft above the main bearing? Try to pull it out the other direction.

As simple as taping it out using a dowel (smaller than shaft) and a mallet from the bottom side.

Make sure to disconnect all control rods from swashplate first.

Shaft is straight. Only reason for changing the gear is because it got stripped from bad mesh/too much torque. Not a crash. I still tried in the other direction though...but to no avail.

Are you serious about the dowel and mallet? I'm afraid of being to rough the the little bird.

Use the wd-40 or what ever you have and work on it if it still does not come out take the head off and find a tool or bar that will fit through the main shaft hole at the top and lube pull while twisting and it should come out. Remember to hold the main gear with a rag so you can get a good grip and just giver!

Cheers,
Raven

Yes. I went through a similar experience and it's what worked for me.

It should not take much, just a couple of "light" taps as all you are doing is breaking the grip loose and not beating the bird into submission.

This bird is a lot more tougher than thought of.

Hey Pistol_Pete, it worked just as you said, a couple light taps and it popped right out. Thanks for all the suggestion guys. Much appreciated. No I could get to finishing repairs on the birdie.

That's what I love this site for
