Well finished up the heli tuning and got the mount on this past weekend. Prior to putting up the DSLR I decided to use the family camcorder (sony digital 8) to test for vibes. Not to bad considering my thumbs weren't with it that day and the wind picked up by the time we got high enough the video was kind of interesting. I figure it can only get better from here A more modern camera would help as well I think...
Here's the video, sorry kind of boring just flying over fields
Heli on the kitchen table getting ready the night before - wiring still needs a lot of tidying up.
Thank You! Yeah it's tethered on Kept messing with my flying though watching it swing back and forth as I kept my eyes on the pool noodles to try to keep them level. We really need a new camcorder and a layer of foam rubber between camera/mount would of probably helped as well. Lots to learn, we'll stick to the pictures for now
Not bad video is hard to do. Just suggestion if you could close the distance between the C of G and camera gymbal you will have better results. This would give you an easier helicopter to balance down the road when you camera weight goes up. Vibration can be isolated best with isolators there are many types available. You want to concentrate on the main rotor frequency.
Very nice setup and video. Thanks for the tips - the purpose for the gasser was upgrading to the DSLR and if it can handle that camcorder it should be fine for stills. One day we'll play like you big boys but not this year
