Has anyone done the chinese weight mod to the Sceadu 50 heli? If so, did it make any difference when using the stock Hirobo blade clamps and mechanism?

Also, will the Evo 50 Infinavation Dampener kit work with a Sceadu 50? The reason I ask is because I have only found a place that sells the kit for the Evo on the net.

Hi RRios

You don't need anything Chinese on a Sceadu!!!!!

If your Sceadu tail is worn out and has lots of slop, consider replacing it with a Freya 90 sized hub, grips and bearings. Or better still the new Turbulence setup. It is the same on the new SDX.

Never tried any other dampers on my Sceadu. Did upgrade to the blue metal hub. It has 2 dampers each side and was much stiffer.

Regards
Paul

RRios,

The Infinavation dampeners for the Evo 50 will work fine on the Sceadu 50 (FZ-III rotorhead).

Infinovation

The infinovation dampers are the way to go, Even better with the SDG allum Yoke upgrade.
Install stock dampners in the center and the infi on the outside for a very stiff head with great response. Best upgrade ever for the Evo.
No more bent spindles in flight and unbelievable cyclic.

I did a chinese weight mod on the tail of my Evos, but I'm running with the Freya tail hub/grips. For the standard Evo grips, it's probably easiest to just run a long blade bolt with extra nuts for additional weight.

See the linked thread for details on the modification:
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t434993p1/

The purpose of the chinese weight mod is to reduce the tendency of the tail blades to "center". The centering force of the tail is actually quite strong and causes a significant amount of resistance for the tail servo to work against. With the chinese weights, the tail servo doesn't need to work as hard and you can run with much lower gyro gain.

This version of the modification does not completely eliminate the centering tendency, but it does reduce the load on the tail servo by quite a bit.
