Raydee,

what separate gyro do you have to run on Vstabi?

Vstabi is a 3-axis system. Did you mean that the VBar has 2 components as opposed to one component like this Axiom or the Gyrobot?

As I've stated in other areas, after having a gyrobot, I'm not convinced that an all-in-one solution is ideal.

I think the processor (including Rx support) and gyro should be separate. Having numerous wires coming out of the gyro leads to unnecessary vibes and the wires can cause some bias on the gyro from the tugging...keeping in mind that we have to mount the gyro's on a "sponge".

For now, I'm happy with all the progress in the flybarless arena and I look forward to seeing what happens when the products become truly refined.

just FYI... those 72 mHz radios still have some advantages. If you ever get into flying FPV, you won't think your 2.4 gHz radios are the cat's meow anymore. I use all 2.4 gHz for my 3D stuff, but for flying FPV, 72mHz is hard to beat. If you take static preventative measures, 72 mHz is much less susceptible to glitching, and it goes much farther than line of sight, providing a nice margin of error (I never fly FPV beyond line of sight). 2.4 gHz radios just don't go as far.

... sorry for going off topic, I look forward to seeing more competition in the flybarless market, but I too am concerned about the vibration issues with all of the wires plugged into the main board. Will the Axiom work well with nitro's and electrics? perhaps it will be more sensitive to vibration and hence be better suited to electrics???

wow, 2008 was a crappy year! Oh well, I'm goin flying :)

I don't think vibration is an issue since we all dampen our gyros and FBL units. If we were hard mounting them it may be an issue but were not.

Also the Inertia tape that is supplied with the gyros and Axiom is the best tape I have ever used as a pilot in 5 1/2 years.

Tape and mounting really dont matter much if the vibration comes from the wire, even a Vbar with too much loose wire is receptible to vibrations though the wire.

I had that issue with CSM gyro when we tried FBL with that, simply too much mass of the wires that vibrates around.

Simply put, the more wires, the more important to make it perfect in the mounting of the cables.

Mike,

What benefits did you feel the Axiom FBL offered over the stock flybarred 700N?

(This is a generic satement about all flybarless)

As with any flybarless the first thing you notice is that the helicopter appears to have more power. Obviously it doesn't have "more" power it just has a much more consistent power since there is less on the head to drive.

I also noticed that stops and pops were all level and remained square. Bigger maneuvers flow well and feel great not to mention the helicopter is simply faster w/o a flybar.

It takes a few flights to get used to th feeling of any flybarless system but more so a 3 axis because of the integrated tail gyro.

When you have everything (3 axis) working together the machine seems to fly better overall but because we are so used to compensating for the flybars tendencies it feels a bit weird at first.

I had been afraid of going flybarless for a long time and was always against it...only because I had no clue how it worked.

Now I love it and think that as systems develop the price will continue to come down making it affordable for anyone who wants to give FBL a chance.

it says clearly in the first post that the price will be under 380 for lcd and flybarless unit, yet your website says 389.99, whats up with that?
