I bought a used heli cheap and after firing it up I discovered the blades don't turn due to the clutch and pinion being stripped; The clutch spins while the pinion stays stationary. The heli is a Quick and the new parts are about $55. This price sounds somewhat inflated. I'd like to try using JB Weld to adhere the pinion into the clutch. Any other ideas??

Thanks,

KT

You'll never get it perfectly straight,it will have a wobble and eat main drive gears.I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new clutch bell and pinion.

He who burns no fuel, gets no better.

The parts still fit together snug...

so there will be no centering issues. My consern is with how tough JB Weld is. I guess I'll simply give it a try.

You might get away with

Try Green Locktite for shafting and bearing seats. Good bearing house will have it.

Jig it up plumb on the drill press juice it up - and press the pinion in - if you got two sqware surfaces on the bell and the pinion shoulder you just might get a one shot wonder !

Just buy the new parts needed

One of the cool thing about helis is that, unlike planks, you can just install new parts so you can have an eternally new heli regardless of number of hours flown or even crashes. Not so if you start mending things.

Don't do it, keep the heli in pristine condition always.

My $0.02.

Hi

Just buy new parts.

If it fails in flight and you don't do a perfect auto, it will cost a lot more.

So far...

I have 5 flights on the JB Weld fix with no signs of any issues. I'm not gonna sweat it breaking loose... Just another auto at that point. I bought it RTF for $200. In case of a crash, I'll simply salvage what I can and move on...
