Just thought I'll post this as I'm am keen on some feedback with your opinion ...
Last night I came across a minor problem with my X90 - I was cranking over my X90 via my starter, and noticed the fan was freewheeling. So I dropped the engine and picked up the whole unit (cooloing hub, fan, etc) was freewheeling over the crankshaft. I've learnt with the X90 design that the cooling hub is attached to the crankshaft via 2 socketheads and the engine nut. With both items firmly tighten - the hub unit was still freewheeling over the crankshaft etc....
Is this a fault with the design? has anyone had this problem? Is it just my bad luck?
I was thinking locking the cooling hub with a engine key - that i'll kill any freewheeling! Just means I'll have to machine out the inner of the cooling hub for the engine key to lock into, .....
Would that be a reccomended practise to do? Was thinking if I cut into the cooling hub - it will probably become unbalanced etc (if it matters?)
Hope I've made sence here!
cheers Raynman,
Raynia
