I had one on mine. I didn't really notice anything different as well, great cooling as usual from it.

the plastic fan is not rigid as the metal ones.

bad case scenario story:

a friend had his governor sensor hit a warping plastic fan during flight, overspeed to the max, panicked and crashed.

worst case scenario:

... crashed then metal bits caused a spark, started a fire and burn entire heli until only ashes remains.

all because he didnt change to metal fan

The plastic fan can warp or come warped. Metal fan is more durable and should last longer.

haha.. not really.. that was just a worst case scenario

but, i really recommend the metal fan if you dont mind spending a bit extra. its very rigid compare to the plastic. plus it looks good.

if you do what tmmugen from singapore did, it would be even better. he balanced his metal fans with some secret tools.

titanchin,

*im shouting to myself and pulling my hair*

no you dont need to but it would be a bonus.

end state: buy it if you want, and just install the thing

The fan is fixed to the motor, so no.

I have a quick-uk one in red. It looks very nice, but I dont think this should be your motivation until they come out with a translucent fan shroud.

In my other 600 I have a plastic one that works just fine.

The metal fan is way heavier than the stock plastic one. Just as long as you don't warp your plastic then it should be fine. Also for 3d pumping plastic is better because it is much lighter, thus the engine can recover much faster. e.g a race car has lightened flywheel simply because it will be lighter for the engine to reach the certain rpm. Heavier will take longer. Same with helis. Especially the closer to the engine the greater the impact. So you will notice it way more than changing to lighter blades, etc.

on one of my old 600's I had a plastic fan that ended up warping so I decided to try one of the metal fans. I could not tell a single bit of difference other than less money in my wallet. It did not cool any more effective. Not to mention it is bling you don't even see

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
