I just got done with the final trimming of my new Protots carbon. I never unplug my motors anymore on any of my helis when setting up because I tell myself it wont happen to me and heck, "I have throttle hold on so what can go wrong". Final pitch setting and the transmitter falls off my lap. Ouch! knocks it into stunt and turns throttle hold off with the Heli dancing on my new glass dining room table. Glad the old lady isnt home yet

If you have got her to stop talking to you already you better marry her. after 26 years mine still wont shut up when I screw up

Be happy your not hurt, my similar lesson with electrics cost me 36 stitches to my right ankle. I don't unplug my motor anymore ether because I cant hear the beeps but I do loosen or remove the pinion.

Sounds like a cheep lesson glad your not hurt.

CRASH! GLUE! REPEAT!

While working on setup on my electrics I use an old 4.8 volt receiver battery, Plugged into the battery/bind port or any open port on the receiver. Powers the electronics but not enough to power the motor which is great for setups.

That must have been pretty scary. I powered up my Protos one time in my kitchen, just to check rotation direction and man was it scary and that was low throttle but it was wicked fast. Never thought of doing that again for any reason. I always disconnect my motors, for servo setup or also use a bat pack as mentioned.

Weird things can happen twitch, my flying bud had his TREX 450 plugged in and in his hands, transmitter on the table, someone called his name and he turned to look ----as he turned with heli in hand the verticle tail fin hit the throttle stick on Full He just dropped the heli, blades ,spindle busted but he didn't get hurt. A lesson learned though.

Just plug a 4-cell NiCd/NiMh into the Rx for setup & checks!
