Hi Foilks

I setup my Helicommand a long time ago and recently had a servo starting to go bad... I replaced the original Futaba S9252 servos with HiTec HS-56454MG servos... (extra servos a friend had on the bench)

I believe that the extra torque and metal gears will improve flybarless performance... The failed Futaba servo had missing nylon gear teeth...

I also took this an an opportunity to do a major inspection of the helicopter and replace my Futaba 9C/Spektrum module with a JR 9303...

Got everything working in terms of correct swashplate and collective operation....

STRANGE THING: The ridge system works the swashplate in the opposite direction. The only way to correct it was to tell the Helicommad the the unit was in back, when it is infact in front...

Otherwise everything seems to work OK...

Ideas???

Futaba S9252

Speed: 0.14 sec/60°
Torque: 92 oz-in (6.6 kg-cm) @ 4.8V

HiTec HS-56454MG

Speed: 0.18 sec @ 60 deg.
Torque: 168.03 oz.in @ 4.8v

Hi geker

Thanks for the fast response...

Programming between the Futaba and JR seems very very different...

Never used JR radios before, but the Futaba seems easier and more flexible...

Futaba servos turn in the opposite direction to JR or Hitec servos. JR and Futaba radios use the opposite polarity pulse. If I remember correctly Futaba is a + going pulse and JR is a - going pulse.

Thanks jack726

Never knew the polarity was reversed between these...

In their manuals it is probably buried somewhere... They should use large font at the beginning of the manual and say something like:

NOTICE: JR and FUTABA USE OPPOSITE POLARITY FROM EACH OTHER!!! SWITCHING BETWEEN RADIOS MEANS EVERYTHING IS BACKWARDS

Thanks, this may be common knowledge to others, but it is very helpful to me... THANKS...

HS10, I ran into a problem similiar to yours and emailed Captron about it. In a word they said DO NOT FLY THIS WAY, meaning don't try to fool HC by telling it, it is mounted somewhere it isn't. They said to keep working with the Mixer Tab and RC Trim Tab in the software untill it was right. You might have to change the travel value of Swash Ch 6 in the radio to make the swash move up or down as needed. Also I believe Futaba uses Ch 1 and 2 for Aileron and Elevator and JR uses Ch 2 and Ch 3, so make sure you have everything hooked up correctly.

Hi Gregg

Thanks for the warning !!!

I will double check the wires, but I am sure they are connected according to the instructions...

Do you remember how you got it to switch back to normal using the software???
