Hi all,

I recently purchased my spectra g and plan on using the jewel generator. On all of my nitro helicopters there is a one way bearing on the starter shaft. I know that the jewel runs off of the starter shaft, and I read that I needed to flip the one way bearing so the starter shaft can power the jewel. I was under the impression that the spectra also had the one way bearing, but the starter shaft doesn't seem to have one. I purchased this spectra used already complete so I'm not totally sure if this bearing is there.

Thanks,

Tejam

Starter shaft does not have one-way. Jewel bolts right up to shaft, so you need to use the pull start. See my gallery for a view.

Gyrofreak,

I do realize that I need to use the pull start, and also mount the jewel were you have. So at this point I do not need to change anything with the starter shaft, and I can just mount the jewel?

By the way I like the "Anti Chicken Dance" pic. Pretty good idea

All the mounting hardware comes with the generator. It's a perfect fit, no mods are necessary best I can recall.
The Jewel saved my ass once, the battery leads broke during flight but every thing kept working fine until I landed and shut the engine off. Then I had no power to the servos or recv. That saved a crash that would have cost a lot more than the Jewel.

The only change required to mount everything was the bolt in the antirotation bearing on the swash had to be changed to a low profile roundhead, to clear the gen housing. Raja may even have supplied that.

Well I'm glad to hear that it helped you out. I feel it's well worth the money to go ahead and get the jewel.

In regards to your question

Flipping the torrington bearing is something that needs to be done with the Predator line of helicopters only. With the Spectra-g the start shaft is the clutch shaft already direct drive with the engine so just put the jewel coupler flush on the shaft and install the rest of the kit and you're ready to go.

Thanks for the help. Now, I can sit back and wait for the jewel to arrive. I cannot wait to get this spectra in the air.
