Hi guys!

Is there a trick to put after run oil into the engine without removing the glow plug? Where do you put it... in the carburator?

Thank you in advance!

Take back plate off or thru glow plug . You dont want to put thru carb it can hurt 'O' rings in carb . Unless you are storing for a long time no need for after run .I have a Raptor 90 that belongs to E Trump and he comes down every winter and I dont use after run and have no issues . I make sure I run motor dry of fuel .
I also think the fuel you use is a determining factor also .

I dont know how to fly just how to not crash !!!!!

Just fly every day and don't worry about it.

It's like a metaphor.

The best way I found when I used to do it was to put it in a bottle that will accept fuel line on the end. (maybe a fuel tank) Unhook the fuel line from the carb, hook up the line from the bottle with the oil in it to the carb. Spin the engine with the starter while squeezing the tank for about 10 seconds.

20% I would say if you are letting it sit for over a month I would use after run. If weekly or by weekly you should be OK .More nitro will attract more moisture .

Someone on here drills the front of the crankcase and puts in a pressure tap in so it lines right up with the balls of the rear bearing. Leaves a blocked piece of fuel tubing on it during flight, and can inject oil directly on the bearing! There are pictures in his gallery. I forget who, though. As far as the after run eating th O-rings in the carb, I think a lot of it depends on the quality of the o-rings used. I only know of one person who reported it actually did happen to them. It was with an r/c car engine. I use after run all the time as I don't get to fly that often. For many years I would put a good shot of afterun in my motors and then hang them upside down by the skids. A paper towel was slid under the carb throat, as some afterrun would always drain out there. Quite often when installing carbs I put wheel bearing grease on the O-ring to help the seal. And I would always grease the carb barrel (especially the pin) and grease the rubber boot on Supertigre carbs. It has never caused a problem. I still have Supertigre carbs that are over ten years old and they still have grease on the boot. They are still fine.

Hi Vibe Ration,

This is how I do it. Removed plug, add the ARO through the plug hole as well as the carb air intake. I use ATF oil. On my 90 size engine (OS),90/100 drops from a oil bottle with a fine needle nozzle. You can go add more, no problem.

Hand turn engine with starter wand several times. Add kitchen pad down tissues to plug area and use starter for several turns. Set machine aside till flight next week.

For longer storage, leave the oil inside after hand turn.

Whether you need to use afterrun oil has alot to do with the climate you live in. If you have low humidity during storage your less likely to need it (as long as you fly frequently). However if you live in a high RH enviroment, then rust sets in quickly and eats the bearings. I've been through countless sets of bearings do to rust.

Here is a link to Mike's gallery. He is the person who installed the oiling nipple. I plan to do this mod on my Hyper but have not gotten around to it yet.

Don't us it anymore

I used to religiously use all types of after run oils but stopped after flying with both Wildcat or Cool power both of which do not need after run oil's. I probably fly once or twice a week, not everyday. I do however make sure and I run all of the exhaust gasses out of the motor at the end of the day by turning the motor over with the starter after I pump the fuel tank empty. Works for me. I do however use after run when storing my motors for the long Minnesota winers.

I believe a lot of the fuel jugs say right on them that it is not necessary to use extra after run oil and that they are already in the fuel mixture.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!
