Synergy R/C Synergy N9 > Some guy put a Trex 700 tail on the N9

This guy on the "other forum" put a 700 tail case on his N9 and it looks as if he even used the grips, slider, and all. He doesn't give much information or details which I lightly chastized him for due to how much curiosity this would spark and the questions he left unanswered. He claims it's been very durable and has worked great. I'm curious if any N9 tail parts were mixed with the 700 parts and what kind of tail drive he's using be it hyperformance or stock. Whichever drive it is how did he mate it up with the align input shaft and bevel gears?

I'm game for giving it a try. I love the n9 and even though it needs some refinement in certain areas I wouldn't let another manufacturer's tail bother me in the least being on the heli. I think eventually with more concentration and time another n9 will come out that will have most of the issues worked out that the older kits have had. I would have to agree that with the current stock tail gears and no other security methods for holding the star ring on the brass bushing/ tail slider that it more than likely will fail with aggressive tail manuevers. As I said before hopefully in the future these issues will be worked out.

I didnt know there was an issue with the tail gears..
As far as the long ring, that is seriously a 5min fix if you have either a drill press or 2 pairs of pliers. I have been flying mine for 1 1/2yrs with absolutly no tail issues.

There is NO WAY in he!! I would put an align tail on my synergy. The Align tail gears are a bit stronger. That would lead to a stripped crown if you tapped the tail blades on the ground. I would MUCH rather replace cheap gears at the tail than pull the main to replace a crown.

Plastic tail gears on the N9 I've found will often strip with those that run an aggressive tail setup and routinely do hard stops and reverse piro manuevers. I've stripped two myself and I've maybe run 15 gallons through my N9.

Like I said, I have never stripped a tail gear. I run a VERY aggresive tail on both my N9s, never had a problem. One is a solid-g with a little bit of stop delay added and ATV for piro maxed out in the TX. The other is a VBar which feels just like my solid g.

If you are routinely stipping tail gears, I would start checking for proper mesh, shims in the proper place (bought 4 different N9s from people and they were ALL assembled wrong with massive amounts of play). Also check for start and stop delays in the gyro.

Well if Synergy don't pull their finger out & redesign the tail gears with some decent material, people are going to look for other options.

Personally I haven't had a problem with the standard gears in flight, but they certainly dramatically add to the expense of crashes.

I've witnessed aluminum tail gears one time. I don't know where the gears were made.
