I took my Dad on a three-site excursion in Mississippi last month. I had him film a few video clips of my setup while on the job. He shook the camera a good bit while filming so I figured I'd use them for a video for family/friends rather than to use for marketing at this point. I used one of his favorite songs. Commercial music...I know...spare me. Can remove if they gripe. This was filmed with a Sony CX12:

Your Dad didn't do too bad at all! I'll bet he had fun being out with you too!

He's been on jobs with me before but this one was an overnight gig. 600 mile round trip for three sites. We had a good time hanging out!

That's cool to work with your dad. How are you liking the CX12?

I love it. I think it's a great camera for less than $1000.00. I had an HC9 before this but sold it since I preferred a camera with no moving parts. The AVCHC format (17mb/s)is a bit more compressed than the HC9 (25mb/s) but I can't tell in the videos. Plus, I find the color quality to be much better with the CX12.

Congratulations on equipment.
I understand that has a clearance between the helicopter and the base of the camera, it helps reduce the vibration of the camera? Have you done this video? What result?

Are you asking if I've done aerial videos with this camera? If so, yes, I've done some but make a lot more money off of stills in this area. There's just not much of a need for aerial video work here.
