Can anyone point me to some threads or on-line resources that provide a beginner with the techniques used to fly a heli in a 'scale like manner' ?

Thanks!

What I've been doing is to watch full sized helis out at the airport and try to mimic the way that they fly. YouTube has a lot of videos on full scale helis.
I ran across this website while searching for something. It might be of use.

I hope that this helps. Cheers! BH

I simply chop about 90% of the helicopters potential down for flight. Nice slow flat approaches. It looks really cool when you get it but it is much harder than just ripping around. It takes a little more concentration.

Yes, flying scale is not as easy as it first appears.

Go out and fly real slow figure 8's in the wind. When you turn down wind try your best to maintain Altitude and speed ... SLOW and easy .. I think you will find when you turn downwind the helicopter will want to fall and pickup speed .. the secret it to keep it slow and steady no matter what. It takes practice, Lots of it!

Go out and fly!!

I must agree, that it not as easy as it seems. Not only slow flying, i also practice close to the ground flight. Having a Hirobo Supercobra and a Hughes 500md,( raptor 60 ) they tend to fly close to the ground in real life.( surprise attacks )
That is extremely taxing on the nerves, but when you can do it low and slow it is a very rewarding experience. It also looks supercool.
Practice practice and more practice.

Nice, very good information. The pictures were taken from the Rotorcraft Flying Handbook. $15.00 for the book if you buy it from a flight school.
