I'm using Outrage and Thunder Power 3cell, 2200 mah packs. I have two chargers, one is the TP610C and the other is a used polycharge 4 (no balancer).

I'd like to charge multiple batteries at the same time, but only the TP6120C has a built-in balancer, the polycharge 4 does not.

So, I'm looking for a good stand-alone balancer I could use with the polycharge 4....

Balance, then charge, then balance again...perhaps top-off with the TP610C

Thanks for any input!

Just fly!

How about the TP 210 balancer? They are expensive at retail, but you can get clones off E-bay for about $35. They work with the TP1010C charger if you upgrade later.

These are the two I use. They both work great. I think if you use the Blinky you may need the pin adapter (for TP style connectors.)

Try a V-balance from FlightSystems. Works stand alone and also with a charger as a flow through device. Work like a charm on batteries up to 6 cell.

Dennisu great...

I think I've got a good plan here. Just read that lipos can explode if you overcharge them, even a little bit. Kind of scary.

I just picked one up at my LHS so not sure where else you can get one. Try your LHS and see if they have any. You won't regret it as it works like a charm even to just check the charge on the battery before you use it if you forget if it's charged or not.

Here is the TP1010C and balancer equivalent for $140. I looked at one of these at the field and the display is identical to the TP menu.

V-Balancers suck. They sometimes don't know when to stop balancing & will flatten lipos! They also easily overheat & shut-down while balancing.

I used to use a blinky balancer, Not the greatest for larger batteries, it falls behind while charging the pack. It will work great for your 3s 2200 packs. But dont forget that you have it on the pack! The blinky will continue to slowly drain the pack to try to achieve perfect voltage among the cells. You will need the adapter for tp balance tabs, and the adaptor for the blinky that astro flight makes is only up to 5 cells for the tp adaptor.
