New look motor

It looks like a Zenoah barrel grafted onto a nitro style bottom end.

Team- unbiased opinion,no experts here just trying to help thats all.K.I.S.S principle upheld here

Any link pointing to this engine? What is the brand name and how much is the capacity? The engine mounting design is similar to those of nitro engine.

This looks like an airplane gasser engine of which there are new ones coming out of China every month.

Engine photo, CAD fan

What I read is, "we don't have a heli engine just yet, let's show them the plank engine and the CAD fan design".

Will be interesting to see if/how this evolves.

Since the case looks adapted from a nitro engine. It could be a heli or an aircraft engine. It looks as though it would bolt in to a 90 size frame now. The pipe that is shown in the drawings definately look like something you would see on a heli. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.

I tested that engine last month...It has a design problem... The rear cap covers the rear transfer port to much, compared to the front...The Co. needs to slant the inside of the cap 45 degs so as to allow normal transfer to the port...Needed to have better balance also...

Makes you appreciate the Zenoahs fooling with these type engines...I will say the pro 2 bearing CRRC engine is a pretty good engine..

I have been flying the New Century 50 size gasser with the G 20...I must confess after hearing all the stories with the conversions, I was getting nervous...
I have not seen those problems because Century put a bigger fan than is on the Predator to account for the less cooling area...Temps running in the 180's with outside temp 95 to 100 degs..
So far so good It is sweet..

Since the case looks adapted from a nitro engine.

You can convert a nitro engine to run on gas and you can convert a gas engine to run on diesel but there are always drawbacks. I think a gas engine requires a flywheel weight to smooth out the combustion process when used in a heli. True the EI engines don’t have much of a flywheel but I don’t see them taking over the heli market either.

I don’t get the fascination to build a purpose built gas engine to fit into a Raptor. Would you expect an engine of this nature to be cheap? Not hardly. Look at what has been done already.

Improvements made to a stock Zenoah engine make sense to me. At least you are starting with a mass produced engine instead of a total home built.
