How about 4 big fat juicy a123's wont it work?
How much power are required?

Ya you could use your ABC batteries... LOL
Whatever will equal to around 14.8V.

I have the ESC right underneath the tip of the main blades. The downwash keeps it cool.

Just an update. I'm going to change the location of the Ferrite ring for the ESC I had shown in my previous post where I had it mounted on the boom support rod mount.
I remembered that chokes should be mounted as close as possible to the component they are safeguarding. They prevent emi passing through them.
Putting it at the opposite end of the wire puts the filtering at the terminal end and leaves the length of wire open to allowing emi in after the filter.
It is best to put it at the ESC where the wire connects to the ESC.
Too bad...I liked that location!

Lol...why did I know that
Do you have a source, other then scavenging old equipment?
What headspeed are you running now with "5000-6000" rpm on the tail?

source for chokes.

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll

going off topic here, taking it over to electrical because there is a lot more to ferrites as far as frequency ranges etc., etc.

Steve I buy them locally.

You could run the tail between 5200 to 6000.

I have a switch programmed.

I was just curious of the headspeed your using now as I know you were going into the slow zones and now using the 5-6000 t/r where I know you did have around 7500 before?
Wish I knew a place around here for a local buy, those websites I posted for the ferrites require too much thinking! I did read someone was also saying the choke also inhibits the signal, but this is the first time I've heard that. One of the electrical engineers on the forum will have to comment on that, I'll post this question in "electrics".
Okay, time to find some hot black wine...coffee

good moring all,
we are using the Hacker A30-12XL motor on our MJ3DD, if we want to go with this conversion, do you think we really need the 105 tailblades, (now they're 120) or do we get the same result with just trimming down the gyro/RPM?
We dont like to take any chances, considering all the gear installed.
Much appreciated.
have a look at the end of this wedding intro clip, http://vimeo.com/6733518
shot using www.helifoto.hr - that's us!

there can be only one

you would be okay to just keep the 120mm blades and adjust the rpm to match your needs. You can put the rpm on a slider and adjust it in-flight for your flight or link it to idle up 1 or 2 to have go to preset values.
