Would love to see some vibration analysis if you have the means to produce graphs of before and after.

Can't. I'm not going to reinstall the belt.

Quote
Also couldn't you gain said power by simply increasing the voltage, ie 6s?

4s for the tail is enough.

Quote
do you have to turn on the tail on a seperate channel?

Yes.

Quote
What is your startup sequence?

Tail first. Then main.

Quote
With an extra set of batteries, how do you monitor it?

Just like you would with the main packs.

Quote
Do you use 3 sets (1 main, 1 tail, 1 receiver?)

2 sets. Main packs to power main motor and RX. 2nd to power tail.

Quote
What size tail blades are you using?

120mm

LMAO...... See what you started Ros? You'll be answering questions till the cows come home!!!

Just got home. Been flying all day. (Canada Day!)

I don't mean to be too critical but it's pretty hard to judge the stability of the helicopter with footage from a hand held camera. It would be nice to see this footage with the camera locked solid on a tripod.

The video is to show the tail motor's performance. Not the stability of the helicopter. If the tail motor wasn't doing its job then it would be quite obvious.

Yes and No. I had someone move it to get use to the mount moving. It threw me off in the beginning as I wasn't use to it.

Also George's Picloc was active.

Would you ever consider using something like a Jive 60HV (only 84g) to run the tail motor from the main flight packs?
If the insulation in the motor could handle the voltage I'm sure the Jive would have no issues with a low throttle percentage to drive the tail.
The DD tail is certainly great for easy transport & reduced part count / maintenance but I already spend too much time managing batteries to add another set!
Slightly OT noobs, but what BEC do you run on your Maxi?
Thanks,
Fionn.

DD tail looks great. I would like to make my own conversion for my streched Razor 600E (720mm). Anybody have suggestions as to what motor and KV, and what ESC would be appropriate.
I would think my conversion would also be applicable to Trex 600E.
I have my home machine shop so this would be another great project to keep me from flying.

Cheers. Have just returned 3 Hercules BECs (2 x HC & 1 x HV), total rubbish IMO, ridiculously bad RF interference & now listed as 2.4GHz only where I bought it - http://www.realraptors.co.uk/shop/i...roducts_id=2877
Costly mistake on my part.

I dont think running two motors from the main packs should cause any huge problems, twin engined aircraft with twin ESCs do it all the time without problems.

Sorry off topic but I'd like to reconfirm this. Had the Hercules HV on my AP Swift - numerous lockouts even when running 2.4 Ghz. Changed to a cheaper Hobby Wing BEC and all problems gone.
