My Posts This: Topic Forum | I started my FBL setup for my IonX2 with 690mm blades and the 9252's. It seemed a bit sluggish. Put on some BLS351's (stronger and faster), and the improvement was spectacular. On my 600mm helis (I use Vbar on all of my FBL birds), 9252's seem to be enough. The head gyros can command the servos faster and more often than you ever would, so the cyclic servos need to be as fast as you feel willing to spend. And since you don't have the flybar, which acts as a kind of "power steering" for the rotor disk, you need to make sure your cyclic servos are also strong enough. You will also want to make sure that your system can pump the amps to the cyclics. Consider one of the pass through regulators to help with this. Some guys doing hard 3-D have had their receivers brown out form the voltage dip caused by big current draws from the cyclic servos.
My current favorite for bigger helis are JR8717's. Very fast and very strong. I put them on my 800mm, 4 bladed Apache. I also use pass through regulators on all 600mm and up size helis.
We don't need no stinking flybars! |
