Looking for recommendations on a good servo tester/ setup tool.

I'm getting tired of using my radio system for setup.

What are some good ones?

Hell... I can fix that.

The E-station HeliMaster is a good servo setup tool, plus it'll give you battery voltages and headspeed. I like it for it's pause at center as you sweep from one endpoint to the other. The Hitec servo programmer is also very good and allows you to reprogram the servo for non-standard centers and endpoints to get that perfect 90 degree setup even if the servo arm isn't agreeable.

Both cost over $100. There are a few less expensive units out there, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

More options

FMA Servo Lab works good for set up and also can read the rx signal to tell you if your radio trims are really centered. Also the newer Hitec servo programmers can work with your laptop/desktop to setup your Hitec servos. Cost $30 to $50.

Just checked FMA and they no longer have it on their website. I got mine thru Great Planes, but they no longer carry any FMA products.

What's wrong with using the radio?
I have a spare receiver in the radio bin, and a large capacity 4.8 volt battery. My problem using a tester is it is not going to be exact positions off my transmitter, so I feel I am better using my transmitter.
When I flew PCM I had a spare 9 channel R138DP that had been in a bad crash and did not trust to fly. Great setup tool. I just had a R608FS have a near death experience and it will now be my setup receiver
