Century Hawk - 50NX - Raven - Predator > Predator stripes the rudder servo gears

Hi
My Predator seems to strip the rudder servo gears of all the types I have used.
Lately it was BLS 251 working with gyro 611.
It usually happens when testing the engine set up – I do it like this – collective to max and suddenly to min. I understand it puts too much stress for the rudder servo, but shouldn’t it be OK?
Is there any servo that would work with the GY611 but is stronger than BLS 251?
I think The BLS 251 is a nice servo but its gears should be also made in metal version.
I am using 105 mm tail blades.
Any advice?

The only thing that may cause that is some sort of binding.

Have you set your endpoints on your gyro so that it does not cause your tail rotor bellcrank and/or slider to be overdriven?

similar here. I ran my predator and beat it without mercy for two seasons with the 601 and 9251, and now a Mini-G with a BLS251.

even in a crash where the entire control rod was ripped from the heli, i have yet to have a stripped tail servo.

sounds like your end points are not adjusted properly and over driving the servo.

It is not the ends.

They are adjusted properly.
Also there is not a problem with the control rod or the slider. They are as free as they should be. I do not know why it is happening to my gasser. On the other hand I have had so many landings with the stripped rudder servo. I am begginnig to be good at it. When it happened the firs time, the Predator suffered a lot of damage.
Have you heard of stronger servos, that would be as fast? What do people put on the heavier turbine or bigger helis?

Those are the correct servos ?

You could try a metal gear tail servo. Not sure if there is one the top ones all seem to be nylon as with the speed and repetition metal would wear fast.

I think the 8900 is Nylon also gears

You have run some of the top of the line servos already and the turbine and scale guys fly them. You are using the good stuff

Some thing is wrong vibration bind not sure what but I flew a 9253 9254 and lower class servos on my gasser thru hard flying and never an issue.

There is a problem non servo related going on

You could try this servo

it's a New edition Hitec HS7966HB @ 6V 111oz of torque and a speed of .08
it's a High resolution, High speed, karbonite gear

only point is what ever problem is causing the servo's to strip will more then likely get broken by this servo.

But at least you will know where the problem is

perhaps there is a resonance frequency that gets hit which the servo is not too pleased with.

maybe check to see that your servo is not screwed down super tight, otherwise the rubber grommets do nothing for you.

im not sure if it matters or not, but you could try mounting your servo up front instead of on the boom if you haven't done that already.

Take down your auto hub and clean it..Do the oring mod by putting a oring inside the bottom of the hub between the oilite bearing, and clutch to keep the clutch from laying flat on the oilite bearing...

Also make sure you don't have a coupler loose on the TT drive system..

All already done

The only think that could cause it is my rudder servo is a little tight mounted. I am going to loose it and see. How much should it be free?
Thanks to everyone for helping.

its hard to say how tight it should be without being there in person. but you want it firm enough so the servo will not move around under load, yet enough so you can move it a little by hand and see that the grommets are doing what they should. You don't want to wrench right down on the screws until your almost stripping the heads.
