Well right now I have the red light weight Raptor 90 paddles on my Maxum.
They weigh about 30g and seem to perform quite well.
What Im wondering is how much difference on a heavy heli like a gasser, is a lighter paddle going to make?
Radix Super Stubz are only 12g, and many others are around the 20g mark.
I really want to try the Rotortech 3d 4mm paddles, but cannot get them here in Oz
So lets have it guys, what paddles do you use and why, and what have you had to compare them to.

Cheers

If you bling it, they will come :D

well

I have tried a couple. I like the raptor reds. The curtis 95's are nice, but not agressive enough. My favorate is the 95 v paddles. They are a little pitchy though in fast forward with a lot of wind, but can snap a roll pretty good. They use a lot of power at 7 degress cyclic though.

anyone else try diffrent variations?

Sorry to hear that you cannot get the Rotor Tech 3D paddles in OZ.

I know a shop that has shipped to OZ - I will PM you.

I found they were perfect on my Preddy GS as well as a number of other helis I have. I found they made for quick and precise cyclic while tracking perfectly in fast forward and fast backward flight - a combination I could not find with any other paddles.

gorn,

I make my own paddles from damaged CF V-blades. I don't put any additional weight on them and my Predator with PUH231 is happy with them.

If interested in knowing how to make them send me a pm.

This hobby is WAY too expensive!!

Thanks for the offer, but i dont trust myself to make those lol

I have found a few places I can buy the Rotortech paddles from.

I keep reading that the Radix Superstubz are the fastest paddles, but can get pitchy in FFF.

I have not read anything negative at all about the Rotortech, so this is what I will buy.

Ultimately Id like to go flybarless, but cash flow is the barrier right now.
Id say that by the end of the year there will be no flybar on my machine though.

Cheers

When you buy a Mikado V-bar you can use virtual paddles of any weight you want.

Flybarless 3-axis gyros is really the way of the future, and the unit pretty much pays for itself after your first major crash (i.e. not needing to replace a mangled flybar, etc).

On my 1050 Excell gasser I used the green Raptor 50 paddles, just drill them out for the bigger flybar.
Bags of zing on the cyclic and rock steady at high speed.

Well I finally bought some new paddles.
They are the new version SWE 105mm. Weighed them at 11.4g.
Priced about the same as super stubz.
They have a grub screw in the leading edge near the root of the paddles.
I have only had 3 flights with them so far, and have paired them with some Maniac 2 703mm blades that weigh 173g.
Night and day difference to what I had before.
Tracks extremely well in funnels and medium paced backward circuits.
Re-tuning my motor right now, so very FFF was not done yet.
I have gone from zero expo, to 20% now.
So far I have noted no pitchyness at all.
Yesterday when I flew was pretty blustery wind, so I was pleasantly suprised.
The small pinhole you can see in the carbon of the paddle, its there for balance.
Both paddles have it in the exact same position.
So far I give them 2 thumbs up.
They look awesome too

If you bling it, they will come :D
