Cool, did you buy it, or have you tested it outside in bright sunlight yet?

XENARC
1000nits or 1000cd/m2 ! in 7inch monitor.

That is as bright as you can get , I ran into this monitor as I was looking for sunlight readable monitors

(ignore the touch screen)

Machine over Gravity

Looks good and the price seems reasonable considering the brightness !

Some good reading

http://web.me.com/chupap/Films/monitorshootout.html

and

I got to use one of these monitors from a friend and the HD daylight viewable ones are just unbelievable. He had the Tiffen one for the steadicam and it was at least 5 times better then my panasonic monitor.

Now I just gotta find an extra 10K to buy one!

Xenarc will not be anything comparable to these professional monitors.

Its good bugest monitor from what i read in some forums. No I havn't tried it yet.

if you notice contrast ratio is 500:1 and brightness is 1000cd/m2

Typically a expensive bright monitor will have contrast ratio very close to brightness value( at least my observation ) like 1000:1 for this.

So my understanding this is a budget alternative. And will be viewable in sunlight.

Tabb: Those monitors are sweet.

In that category you can choose from allot of high end monitors, actually already from 3-4000k, crisp clear in direct sunlight without any shades at all, pro video producers use them allot, dont remember the name of the brand at the moment, but ill see if i can find the brochure

Interesting, but the brightnes spec isnt more than a cheap portable dvd player, but it says led backlit, does it work like when the sun hits the screen it will become even easier to view, iex like a iphone screen, or?

Interesting, but the brightnes spec isnt more than a cheap portable dvd

i know but it works compaired to what i was using a low ball marshall
this is living the dream. we spent the day at a shoot from bright mid day sun to dusk no complaints. it has a nice battery pack that goes about 2.5 hours fit nicely on the back of the unit and isn't priced out of this world.

I just took it out with out the hood and in a direct hit from the sun it does take a hit but off axis from the sun it still looks good and i could not do any adjustments and hold the camera and monitor at the same time
