Sounds a bit like what I said.
I have always recommended that people forgo the RTF and go directly to one of these type of combos:

or even this:

And add their own radio, servos, gyro & top notch battery packs.
Of course that also means that you will have to assemble it all and learn how to set it all up on your own.
So for those who do not want to assemble or learn how to set-things up on their own, then maybe the RTF would be for them...and the only thing I would change would be the servos...probably even before much flying.
Seems that is what I basically said in my earlier post...I found the airframe, motor and ESC where more then OK for training, and even up to more with bigger battery packs, but the rest would need upgrading in short order.
P.S.1 - I have done basic aerobatics (loops/rolls/flips and inverted) with one that only had the servos changed to basic Futaba S-3001's and some minor programming changes in the supplied radio.
P.S.2 - Set with the right pinion, even a decent 4S battery pack can do more 3D then many are capable of...albeit the flight times would only be about 4 minutes. You will find a number of videos on youtube of just such power systems, in the Swift 16, doing some pretty demanding 3D.
P.S.3 - I do not know about the capabilities of the Outrage packs, but the Flite Power 4S/3700 25C packs do quite well.
P.S.4 - Either of the two combos above with a good FP 5S pack will come out to a total cost less then $1000.00 with a good 7Ch radio, decent servos and a Futaba GY-401/9254 gyro/servo combination. |
