Sound like citrus is trying to put negativity into Phoenix, by chance are you pro RealFlight, for some underling reason?

I had Realflight 3.5 had to pay for all the extra aircraft, had to pay for upgrades ( 3 to 4), had to pay for flying fields.

Got fed up.

Changed to Phoenix, started with 1.05 upgraded to 2.0 free
received new aircraft and heli's free, received new flying fields free
upgraded to 2.5 Beta free, again new aircraft, "FREE"

It's BETA, expect a few bugs, with a Beta version released early, they informed us it may have problems, you can still revert to 2.0N go to their WEB site

www.phoenix-sim.com/downloads.htm

We complained about waiting, and now we have a copy of the Beta,
Frankly this is the best bet, we can fly, the new version, and if any problems report back, this will improve the quality of the Phoenix Sim

Stop B-i-t-c-h-e-n, because you are loosing it.

now instead of being a F&%$ing cry baby why dont you submit valid bugs and your PC specs to the Phoenix team so they can address the issues.

With my Windows7 C2D E8500 box with 8 gigs of DDr3 ram and an Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 its perfect no crashes and lightning fast and thats at 1680x1050 with everything turned on.

Exactly; when you run BETA software you are a BETA tester. They are asking for feedback in order to improve the release.

Secondly, that's quite a machine USN!

Okay citrus you said that Phoenix should wait until they have a stable product before launching.

You can simulate that quite easily ---

Don't download it or try to use it in any way.
Visit this forum regularly and you'll get a good idea when it's stable
Then download

That way you can enjoy hassle free flying without participating or giving anything and letting everyone else find the problems.

Or another approach. Rather than Phoenix passing the product out to the community for mass testing they could keep it totally internal and do all the testing thmeselves.

That way it will take a year to get a stable product rather than a month or two - is that what you would prefer.

If so you can simulate that to. Ignore the Phoenix website for a year and then come back and download the update.

Cheers,

Nigel

cīmon I understand I ruffled your feathers, but this beta is a pain. phoenix had lost traction and now they need to recover. i appreciate the courage.....I want this to happen - but faster, though in this thread i understand that all other beta tester are satisfied already - only focussing now on hitting with their rythm stick......

All phoenix is anserwing is they are working on it - is that enough already as answer for the heli divers on this forum? hard to believe..... but true?

citrus do you not know what the word BETA means?
this is NOT the retail release of the product.

Beta means its a pre-release product wanting consumer testing for more feedback.

if you are not interested in helping test DON'T DOWNLOAD IT.
its that easy.

and again the vast majority of people with decent systems are not having the issues you are.

time to upgrade your machine.

Then perhaps instead of whining about a beta product on an open forum, perhaps you put together your list of stuff that's wrong, or broken, and email it to the Phoenix folk. Be professional, courteous, and useful when you do, otherwise it's real easy for people to hit the "delete" button in their email client.

Have they given you any reason to doubt them?

I was part of the 2.0 beta release process. The Phoenix folk were turning out new, improved versions on an almost daily basis, and were responding to emails within a few hours. Even on weekends. The whole process went from Beta 2.0 to Beta 2.0n in very short order, and every release was better than the last. When they hit 2.0n, things gelled and the product was stable and good, considering it was a huge re-write of the entire package.

Perhaps you need to take a few programming courses and learn just how difficult it IS to crank out a Windows application that's on the order of 357 megabytes, error-free and in short order.

I find 2.0c to run pretty well, a few of the bugs I'd noticed in the a and b releases were fixed, and I'm eagerly waiting for the final product.

I can imagine that programming a sim is a challenge in windows - but if I were to release a beta product like this to my boss he would not be amused and question my capabilities..... more work needs to be done quickly.

Understand though our US collegues are more tolerant - a crash is just a crash - who really cares, even if it is a financial crash. A recovery program is on the way - lets pump more $$$ - and anyway it is fun to play...... go fast phoenix.

Citrus- Dude, as long as you've reported your findings and system configuration to Phoenix, then you are using the BETA software as it's designed and are improving the experience for everyone. IF you didn't want BETA software, then why did you download it?
Also, any boss releasing BETA software into production should be looked at as well... The point of BETA is to discover what needs to be fixed across the available platforms- and this is what Phoenix is doing.

P.S.
Can you restore your system to an earlier date to get your old version back?

Maybe I shouldn't reply but I for one have decided NOT to get involved with the BETA test. You may not be cut out for this part of the experience as I am not. I don't have the time nor the patience for "faulty" software. BUT, you have to understand that this is NOT a product release and it is only out there for the people who have the time and patience to play with it. I also don't have the real life experience to comment on the physics of the helis.
So, in a nutshell, why don't you sit back with me, Citrus, run v2.0, and let the BETA testers test and wait for the real thing. I can almost guarantee you it will be good when it's done.
