2.0n was an awesome sim against Realflight - but since the new release of Realflight and Phoenixs premature release of its new sim it seems Phoenix is loosing it severly. These people must have been smoking when deciding to launch the program in such an immature state. What a pity - I wish I could revert to 2.0n.

Anyone discovered an improvement of 2.5 vs 2.0? Why the launch? Or was it to find a pack of gunee-pigs to iron out hteir bugs? Well, smoking is dangerous to the health of Phoenix. Its a pity?

Any other thoughts?

It's still listed as Beta software? whats your problem with that.?

If your not happy tweeking and discovering both good and bad points wait untill it is all cleaned up. I actually enjoy this side of Phoenix and missed it during the closed Beta stage.

Can of worms...........

Ladies,

thnks for the comments so far.

Helis without sound and slowing to 12 fps - how can anyone think that this is even a beta product ready to launch - nuts..... Phoenix needs to do their homework and provide value added programs, not cans of worms to hungry customers waiting for food .....

My impression so far:

1. Faster and more realistic graphics - no, a step backwards with hacky screens

2. Better and more realistic feel - not really yet

3. Better sound effect - also still lacking, some even without sound

4. high performance teamroom - still waiting ....

I do not get it - what is Phoenix working on, if not at these? Do they lsten to customers or are they numb to characteristics customers care for?

Citrus.
I have NONE of those issues.
I gained frame rate.
the new physics rock.
sound is vastly improved

I think your computer is the issue not the software.

and yes this is NOT the release.
this is a PUBLIC Beta since we all screamed and cried we wanted access to it they gave it to us.

now instead of being a F&%$ing cry baby why dont you submit valid bugs and your PC specs to the Phoenix team so they can address the issues.

With my Windows7 C2D E8500 box with 8 gigs of DDr3 ram and an Nvidia 8800 GTS 512 its perfect no crashes and lightning fast and thats at 1680x1050 with everything turned on.

In fact in windowd mode I can run it and another game without it even stuttering.
The code is good.

and MANY other people here not having the issues you are.

So maybe its time to upgrade your dinosaur PC or at least the drivers and such on it.

agree with USNAviationjay

i don't have any problems like yours either

2.5c works quite well on my ThinkPad T61 with medium settings, i gain a stable 60 fps at most time

sure a and b have some problems with pitch sound but c proves it, the only complain is the engine sound at high RPMs, hopefully this is not final

My bigest problem with it now is the vioce chat in multiplayer. I think there should be a seperate controll for chat volume.

These people must have been smoking when deciding to launch the program in such an immature state.

People were begging for the beta to be released to the public - SO, they release it and people complain. Public beta tests are intended for just this reason - to find bus and determine what works well and what doesn't.

BETA ≠ Ready to launch.

12 fps? Sounds like you are either running hardware from the 1990's or you really cheaped it out on the computer. I easily do 250+ fps at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed out - and I built my system more half ago. I've seen newer systems do 350+. Sure, the framerate is lower with the beta than it was with the last public release, but more than playable.

You can't blame the software for your hardware problem. If Phoenix were to continue developing software intended to run on the computers of yesterday it would upset the people who keep their computers up to date, have more computing power and want to use it.

You can put together a pretty good system for about half the cost of anything other than a micro heli. If you're getting 12fps now's probably a good time to do it.

I'm Creighton Carr and I approve this message.

On my machine , the frame rate does drop to 11fps from 65fps in full screen mode when vertical sync is on . It also sometimes crashes when closing the sim . However , I don't have a problem with that -it is a Beta version . Do some people simply not comprehend what a Beta version is ?

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

I could not tell any improvement in sound at all.

Would haveing realflight installed cause the sound to not be up to par?

Other than that my pc is 3 years old, has 2GB ram, plus 8800Gt Video Card, with 512 ram on it.

AMD 4000+

Drivers are up to date.

Phoenix heli sounds like just a zizing sound like a bee.

Other than the sound it works ok, no other problems.

I think that for a beta software version the guys at Runtime Games have done a very nice job. It take times to get it to the level that we are used to if we compare it at this time with the previous version.

Some people forget that Runtime Games is the only commercial company that let it customers play with the software before is Production release or what we call live release.

I do not see any other software company that creates commercial rc simulators do what Runtime Games does. And that is to let's us play with the software so we can see what is going to be like at the end and help with the testing and debugging.

I love the fact that we can play with the software.

The definition of beta software for those of you that forget:

Quote
Before a commercial software program is released to the public, it usually goes through a "beta" phase. During this stage, the software is tested for bugs, crashes, errors, inconsistencies, and any other problems. Though beta versions of software used to be made available only to developers, they are now sometimes made available for the general public to test, usually through the software company's Web site. If you choose to test a beta software program, don't be surprised if it has multiple problems and causes your computer to repeatedly crash, the program will crash or it will not behave according to the spec. After all, it is the beta version.

Beta.

Hey, I can't even run Phoenix anymore since the update and even when I downgrade it still gives me an error.

But, the bottom line is..it's Beta. Complain when it's a full release.

Now go get your shinebox...

Did you report the problems you were experiencing to Phoenix? What was their response?

By downloading and installing a Beta release, you are participating in part of the testing process...... like it or not.

A “beta version” is a pre-released potentially unreliable piece of software which is first tested in-house, then made available to selected users prior to the “public beta” made available to lucky or unlucky trusted customers……. You seem to be one of the unlucky ones so, turn your rants into “real world” technical notes and forward to the PhoenixRC team. However; like all of us, you might have found something others have not.... be part of the solution.

I can run the Beta version of 2.5 or 2.0N . I simply took the precaution of copying the Phoenix folder to another directory before installing the Beta , I do that before installing most updates - it generally makes life much easier !

At the end of the day , it gets dark .
