I was there to see it. man is that scary. i think the bearings in that heli are about 2 years old.i dont know how many flights are on them though.

Did any one see where that landed???

Grip flipping?
So let's say you flip the grips, this is not going to eliminate wear or slop issues, there is a problem somewhere your missing or overlooking.

If it didn't go way out of track before, but now it does, what's the answer?
Something is worn or loose.....

I had this problem I changed no end of things trying too stop it, in the end I fitted the Inovation flap dampers and i,ve not had it happen again.

Check the thrust bearings in the grips, it sounds like one grip has the thrust washer in the wrong order, I believe the small id washer goes towards the grip but check the manual to make sure.

I had the same problem with mine. I Was flying this evening and all of a sudden the blades with woof. Lucky for me they didn't go poof. I managed to land safely. It was quit intense. While disassembling the heli I discovered that one of the screws that hold the ball on one of the main grips was bent. I wander what cause it just bend. Thanks to a early post on this. I would have never guess that this was causing it. I will fly tomorrow and see if it is good to go. It is amazing how something like that could cause the blades to go that far out of track.

servos

you have a bad servo or servos, one of the servos is bad start replacing them one by one you will find it,

we flipped the grips on the SE because now there is so much pitch the grips need to lead. On the titan its still trailing grips and never had an issue, his tracking is out most likely he has a bad servo i have seen this before change all three out one at a time you will find it. when something like this happens there is a problem. if the rest of the heli is tight and the wood blades in the picture are good there is something else going on.

Usually, that damage occurs during a crash......

If you're "woof" was as intense as you describe, I would be willing to bet $$$ that your blade axle is bent...... Definitely check that before you fly again (after you replace the bent screw

)

I have never crashed the heli since I built it. How would a spindle get bent other then in a crash? I only have abount a dozen flights on it so far. The first time I had blade tracking problems, is was because I was using wood blades and the covering had torn on one of the blades near the end. I changed to another set of wood blades and after 1 flight I noticed that covering had torn on them too. Weird. So now I have thunder tiger carbon fiber blades installed. Still the blades were goin out of track. I replace the bent screw and fly and see if the tracking issue remaines. If it does I will disasemble the rotor head and inspect it piece by piece, it that what it takes. I didn't mean to hijack this thread!

If it goes out of track that can/will bend the spindle in flight.

Roll it on glass and listen for the tapping or remove one blade and turn it with a driver and see if the other blade wobbles up and down.

You need to check that blade axle and replace it if bent, even if it's "slightly" tweaked......

You can put on the best set of blades in the world but if the blade axle is bent, you'll continue to have the same issue....

If the spindle was bent, wouldn't this cause the blades to stay out of track? When This all began the blades were perfectly in track. Then in mid flight the blades went out of track. I immediately landed and discovered that one of wood blades covering was torn at the tip. I replaced them with another set of wood blades and the same thing happen. What would cause the blade covering to just tear at the tip like that? I gave the head a visual inspection and didn't seen anything out of ordinary. linkages look good. All I had left was a set of carbons. So I put them on. After a couple minor linkages adjustments the blades were dead on. I flew for 2 more flights, no blade tracking issues. Then on the 3rd flight I was just hovering and out of know where the blades went out of track. Landed and check leakages found the bent bolt on that holds the ball on one of the blade grips. Have not flown since i have made this repair. I will however check the spindle since you guys think it may be bent. I do not want test faith that I will be able to land without damage if the problem remains.

Minor bends in the spindle won't cause a tracking issue with a raptor 50, likely you won't even notice unless you spin the spindle in the head with a wrench looking for some grip wobble.

If all else fails with your setup diagnosis and machinery condition investagation-flip the grips and be done, once and for all.

Think about all the effort in this post so far especially if after checking the bent screw out in flight the thing still gives you a hard time.

The woof can be stopped in flight during troubleshooting with careful manupilation of the collective and switching into a lower rpm.

Since the blade axle "floats" and can shift position the blade tracking can go "in and out" depending on collective position....

I'm not discounting all of the other great suggestions you've received but checking whether your blade axle is or is not bent is probably the easiest option......It will take only a few minutes to determine......

Two weeks a go I had the same thing happen to my R30 V2. It was a bad pitch servo. Luckily there was no poof, but it did bend the feathering shaft.

What servos are you using? The pitch servo is the most important one.

I've seen a weak or underpowered servo cause this too. This is magnified when using the inner conection on the collective arm to get max pitch,

I am using Futaba 9202 servos. Does someone have some pictures or detailed instructions on flipping the blade grips? Seems to me mixing arms would have to be re-positioned and washout hub would have to be modified. What else?
