i have a raptor 50 v2 and just today i was in mid flight and all of a sudden the tracking went out by like 4-5 inches at the blade tips. Landed and everything looked fine and the tracking was fine. went up again and the tracking was fine, then it went out again. Anyone have this happen to them before?

Remove the screw on the main blade holder that holds the ball link. You might find one or both bent by rolling it on a flat surface.

The above thread has some good info on the woof that some people have experienced with Raptors. Sounds like what you had.

Bad dampeners
Radial bearings loose in the grips
bent spindle (though this can be a result of woof)
Screws holding the balls to the grips are bent.
Crappy blades.
Slop in the collective system somewhere.

Pull one Blade

Then stick your ball driver on the feathering spindel bolt and give it a spin, Watch the opposing blade to see if it wave's or goes up and down. I'm with 450 -- Your spindel is bent -

That happened to me and the problem turned out to be really bad bearings inside the blade grips.

I'll go with Barracuda...
(Because I've been there with the Woof & Poof issues at one time!)

-Soft/Worn Dampeners, Oil can soften dampeners over time, It happens.
-Crappy (read this as cheap priced/grade) Blades, usually non balanced.
-Radial Bearings Worn or Grips worn out where the bearings fit into.
-Bent Screws (Barracuda taught me that one!) Check Grip ball screws!
-Loose servo screws/loose Ball links and or just slop in collective.

Other than that it is a item by item thing till you are able to eliminate "what" you changed that stopped the "woofing action"..

Keep us posted on how you make out.

You dont need to grip flip to fix woof on a Raptor. Something is wrong.

You might also check the thrust bearings in grips.
Correct assembly order, clean and lubed.

Flip the grips, they did so on the Titan 50SE. It works and there is not farting around looking for the magic cure. Parts tolerance becomes less critical both for blades and related items and is situationally similar to most all helicopters after flipping. Why do you think TT did it?

Flip it, fly it and forget it ever woofed or spend you time cursing the thing complying with the many other recommendations.
You may spend much time at only to have it come back another day. It can be fixed either way however the flip is the best longest lasting lowest cost method- just ask any grip flipper

I just took a closer look at the Raptor picture in topic starter.
Looks like woodie blades with the heat shrink covering.

The covering could be ballooning on one blade near tip causing blade to go out of track.
Look for loose/slack covering on blades and any nick/split/hole in covering. That can start trapping air while blades are rotating and really balloon the covering.

Can you borrow a set of FG or CF blades for a check flight to isolate problem to blades or something else on machine.

that's an older pic. i have carbons on there now and have been flying w/ them for a while. i'm prob gonna replace all the bearings anyway because i bought the bird used for $425 and i don't know how old they are to begin with. i'm gonna replace all the linkages as well because some are new and some are old. that's how i bought the bird. i'm gonna overhaul everything and prob upgrade to a cnc headblock anyway. i'll keep you guys posted as to whether or not the prob goes away. if it does. awesome. but if it doesn't i'll prob do the grip flip. either way i'll let you guys know the outcome. thx alot for the help

Yet to be determined if this is a "Woofing" thing.
We need a video and/or more info on just how violent or not the "out of track" thing is.

Might I recommend the Titan SE head. Upgraded my OEM one to this and flew it for the first time today. It's a whole new heli, love it.

Have to second the slop in the collective comment. Anywhere from slop in the collective servo gears, to a weak collective servo, to loose mixing arm screws, to worn ball links. I bet if you hold the pitch of one blade constant in one hand while you try to twist the other blade you'll have a lot of slop in the pitch of the blade you're twisting. Get the slop out and the problem will go away
