Hi guys:

I just uploaded 3 photos if my solar TX battery charger to my gallery. Thought you might get a kick out of it!

Basically its the biggest solar panel I could fit onto the TX case for easy transport to take with me to funfly events. I have two one for each case, and they vary slightly in output, one makes 220mah in full sun and the other 190mah. I'm still using older TX's with 600 and 800mah battery packs so the charge rate is ideal for that size battery. I even installed a resistor inside to lower the charge down when I'm not in a hurry, and visa versa if its cloudy I can turn off the resistor via a switch and maximize the power from the panel. Also on the case is a voltage display so you can monitor the charge level without having to open the case and turn on the TX to check. I tested this and a completely dead TX (8.2v) can be charged in about 3 hours to full charge.

The reason for this is when I go to events and I spend a whole weekend flying my gassers, on day 2 I can recharge the TX's right on the field while I'm either flying with the other TX of I'm socializing or helping someone else with their machine. This way you never have to lug anything back to the hotel room at night to charge for the next day.

The weird thing is, nowadays I put the TX outside on the front steps when I need to charge it a couple of hours before I head to the field. How about that?

Parts

I actually got it off of ebay. There are alot of solar panels there if you do a search. The one I got was 10x15 so it fits the TX case as some are larger.

With the solar panel, the little switch, voltage display, connectors, diode and capacitor you're probably going to be in it for around $100 in parts.
