Just up-dated to l, and can do Autorotations again (but they ain't pretty).

Thanks.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

I still find (from every version so far), that funnels are very un-realistic.
I can do low and slow piro funnels in real life, and blazing fast regular ones as well.
Why is it that on Phoenix, unless your going pretty damn fast, or have a very flat angle, the heli will just drop like a rock?
Its not just me who thinks that either.
A few mates who fly very well also have the same issue.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Funnels are the worst bit about Phoenix, but with 2.5 it's much better than it used to be almost to the point where I don't notice it much.

Hello everyone

I'am also a sim fan, maybe I spend to many hours on it,but I still think that nothing is like the real thing.First of all,the power isn't the same, you can stick bang in every angle you can dream, the heli doens't drop.
Also the timing in flips en rolls is much much more important in real ore you crash. In the sim I can fly almost like lukas, but in real???????????

Sims become better and better but there is still a big big different, ore maybe I'am to nervous in real.

PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT

they power is much closer to real now.
and the physics in most maneuvers is also much much closer than it has been in previous releases.

yes you gotta get over fear in RL if you want to progress.

if you can do it on the sim.. you can most likely do it on the heli.. just a matter of having the guts ( and a well enough set up heli) to try it.

2 Biggest difference's:

1. Screwing up IRL costs a hell of alot more.

2. I never am nervous when I fly the sim.

When your not nervous, you've stopped screwing up! (for the most part)

The sim works, but you must use it as as tool, not a toy. Well only if you want to learn the different stuff, you can "play" with it
any way you want really!.

I tell people to learn tail hover, then ff, invert f, backward f, backward inverted. Pick one, try it the whole night (or until it drives you bonkers). When each one starts to click and you can do all in circuits and figure 8's, start piro travel, and piro 8's. Things like funnels come easy after you learn the others. Piro travel leads to piro flips and piro snakes, but all your doing is simply flying all the different orientation's in rapid succession.Oh, then you can reverse your piro... soon as I have mastered that, I'll let you know!

edit:

Oh, and the original reason I wanted to post, this update is indeed getting pretty close, or atleast close enough.

• Tuned collective response on all higher-performance helicopters
• Added "Advanced" section to editable helicopter attributes
• Failures fixed on multi-engine fixed-wing models
• TRex 700 Nitro rotor-head top added
• Keep Ground In View camera mode:
• Zooms faster
• Does not require "Autozoom" to be enabled to function correctly
• Fixed some minor issues with retractable undercarriage on lower-end computers
• Improved rotor disk transparency on lower-end graphics cards
• Fixed some minor shadowing issues on a small number of flying sites
• Multiplayer communications options:
• "Mute/unmute" now only applies to voice chat

In M:
With a T-rex 700 and 600 -
The funnels now have a new force that seems to be locking them in to place. Which isn't good if you are trying to learn them.

Also, the collective has way to much stop and lock. But the amount of collective pull seems correct when you hang on the stick. So you can do very unrealistic pop and lock moves. IE rainbows seem normal until you try to pop the collective to stop the heli.

Piro flips seems to be fixed except for the poppyness of the collective.

Auto's are weird because you just don't lose headspeed now. They are still better in 2.0n.

The T-rex 500 electric seems like it is still flying a few versions back IE G or K. No pop and it seemed really weird.

All in all I think still a lot of work to get this right.

Back to 2.0n for now.

IT's what I do.

Be sure to send Phoenix support a email with your suggestions else we will never get things fixed.

On the Advanced menu in the model editor you can adjust how much "pop" you want your version of the model to be. Everyone's will be slightly different.
The supplied defaults are a good starting point and you can then tweak and tune until you are happy.

Autos are working really well for me. I don't see this issue of not losing headspeed as you have described it?
Take a heli up to 30 metres, pop it into a hover and then hit throttle hold and see what happens when you do nothing.

Cheers,
Rob

The sound in auto-rotation was modified and is the best it has been to date IMO, but probably could still be better?

Whether it gets changed further from this point, I doubt it?

Cheers,
Rob

Engine sounds (when actually running) were nothing close to real.

Did they change them in this new version M?

The engine sounds have not been changed recently as far as I'm aware.
They have been sampled from real running helicopters.
You can adjust the pitch of the engine sound if you fell you need to in the model editor.

Me, I just fly - I need the practice
Cheers,
Rob

Electrics sound really great now (all I fly is the Logo 500 pretty much), just the blade noise is just silly, I understand it's a hard thing to replicate but it's really one of the main reasons I fly in real life, a sound you just can't beat.

Then I might just turn sound on again instead of listening to my music player .
