My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I wondering about a few things about the tail? Problem pin, where is it, how do I prevent it from failing? Should I consider all metal/ carbon tail? If so, does anyone have the part #? Tail boom, am I less likely to damage a carbon tail boom than the stock one in a crash? Other than bling, anything else needed or recomended to get into 3D.

I have Raptor Titan, OS 50 H, Mavrikk all metal head, GY401 - S9254, AR7100R, DX7 and getting 8717 on cyclic, blue paddles, Carbon boom, Mavrikk G5 wide chord 620mm blades and I think 97mm carbon tail blades.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		It’s the pin that attached the tail pulley to the tail shaft. The setscrew is held in place with a setscrew that inserts in the end of the tail shaft. The secret is to use plenty of thread lock. Fill the hole with thread lock so that it comes out around the pin when the screw is tightened. You will need a good high quality hex tool so you can get it tight.

An alternative is to use a short 3mm socket head screw. That way you can tighten it down harder. With plenty of thread lock I have never had a problem in 10 years of flying Raptors.

The new Titan SE has a metal tail pulley and it also has a pin.

You don’t need any upgraded to learn 3D.

From my experience CF tail booms break much easier in a crash. If you are still crashing keep everything stock and just replace the plastic parts when they break. Metal will bend and CF will shatter (have you ever seen a CF race car crash).

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I put my pin in the vise. Then i bent the pin a little. I bent it enough where it didnt really want to go in. It did go in and i used the set screw. It is very tight and i have no worries.

Hope i dont wreck this thing.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I secure it with heat shrink tubing. I also drill an inspection hole in the tail case so I can keep an eye on it. Another option would be the ElyQ tail case which is open so you can see the tail gear and pin

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The plastic pulley is fine for many people. The pin can also be secured with thread rapped around the pin area and then soaked with CA forming a retaining sleeve. One or two layers of thread will do the trick dependant on the thread gage. The CA soaked thread becomes a hard, strong plastic sleeve that can be removed with a hobby knife. It's much more secure than shrink tubing and easier to remove than brass tubing, plus it's easy,readily available and simple. It won't stretch or allow the pin to poke through. Just CA carefully and don't get any on the shaft where the bearing seats. Lots of options are available for peace of mind offering a build and forget area.

I use a version of what BTS is doing. I use the stock set screw with threadlock. Once its all together I run a full size head screw in to lock the set screw in. never had one come loose yet.

I use 2 set screws,there is plenty of hole depth,just lock tight the first set screw, then put the second set screw in just screw it in till it bottoms out on the first set screw snug, done deal,several years never had a problem.Rev-Ike

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		viper78 has the pefect upgade.If you purchase the tail-case from Quk-UK you can also eliminate the idler pulley.I have both set-ups and have never encountered a problem with the stock set-up,even without the above safety measures mentioned.
