Hi All,

We have a confirmed project for Blimp Aerial Photography in Saudi Arabia.

Due to a lot of ongoing projects in Dubai we are unable to commit to this project. If there is anyone interested here in taking up this project.

Pay is approx.. US$4,000.00 Plus Air ticket and all expenses paid including helium tanks.

This is literally 2 hour job. All permits are arranged. You will be required to stay max 2 days. We have already done similar project there and finished it in 2 hours including set up.

If interested please mail me on sales@choppershoot.com

THanks
Hatim

Sounds to me like Hatim has specified what needs to be used. Who knows why he uses a blimp instead, but from what I have read, he is very successful at it, so I doubt he is interested in well-meaning advice that he has got it all wrong.

Climbing at such great heights with a helicopter, shootting 4 angles at 4 diferent alltitudes every 10 floor of a 40 floor building and give a panoramic view of the beach will be realy a hard task, and also we are talking about a urban area, were full size helis are not allowed.

We will be covering these job for Hatim with a 7 meter blimp!

Wish us good luck in our first job outside Europe!

Regards,
Jose

it took us almost 3 months to get permission to fly a blimp.
Remote heli will be almost not possible.

Flying blimp at 500ft is very easy compared to heli, specially you can have client standing next to you and you can discuss the shot and not worry about the flight time.

Its even easier for us to measure the altitude via string.

I do a lot of similar work where I have to take shots at specific altitudes, I use a barometric altimeter with a wireless downlink from www.rc-electronics.org. I couldn't recommend it more, cost €200 all in.

I am waiting for my ordered EagleTree eLogger & altimeter to arrive, but admit I used a measured cord when shooting five different levels with a kite last week.

But a cord has the second advantage that you can physically ensure the camera is at the correct altitude by holding the cord firmly...

I've shot specified heights with a heli using a cord and weight. It is tricky to do, but possible. You don't want to hold the heli at a specified height though! It really shows just how hard it is to hold a steady hover at one altitude.

I've used the cord method as well but to be honest I usually operate in high winds. In order to get the cord to stay even approximately vertical you need to use a decent sized weight which means reasonably strong string which does not mix well with rotor blades etc. Added to that if exceed the total length accidentally or otherwise it's no fun flying with a huge pendulum attached to your heli, especially at high altitude or in challenging conditions. A further obstacle is getting the cord tangled in any ground obstacles. So in conclusion, hanging a measured cord from a heli is certainly possible but is not something I will be doing again.
It certainly can be challenging to hold a specific altitude manually especially in gusting conditions.

Hello all!

Mission was sucessfuly accomplished!

We comeback home yesterday, it was an unforgettable and extremely valuable experience, i have hystories for more than a year !

It was our first job outside European union. In spite of problems in the first day mainly due to wind and extremely hot weather, in the second day we are able to shoot the most beatifull shots i have taken in all my AP history. We have taken more than 700 shots,... at the end costumer happy and us also very happy returning home.

I will post some photos and describe some problems that we had maybe tomorow, as today i´m still resting and fixing all the equipemnts etc,....

Hatim, thank you again for these oportunity!

Regards,
Jose

Would a large balloon work or did you have to use a blimp?

I'm allways right 97% of the time..............So who cares about the other 4%??

Blimp is much stable and I don't think balloon can give you clean shots in windy conditions. It has to be really really clam to shoot with balloon.

Jose thanks for getting things done to be able to travel on such a short notice.

Ok,...FULL REPORT

Hatim post here these oportunity mainly because he is with a lot of work in Dubai, and was unable to cover these job in the record time that costumer wanted to,...

Running my business as a professional for 6 moths and trying to make full live in these industry i have made all my best to catch the job and make the best possible work,.. First problem was that our blimp is also in use, so i have to rent another blimp and take my photo higher mount 2XR-AP mount from my glow heli and installed in the blim,... Its seems all easy but the problem is that we only had 2 days, plane tickes already in my e-mail,..and due to the dificults in getting the visa and an entry permits i passed 2 days traveling to Lisbon in order to get all ready in record time, so true time we only had the last night before travel. Packing all you need such as chargers etc,... for travel is realy a issue making our best we exceedd 16 Kilos of lugagge paying extra 375 euros in each direction.

In Portugal all family have to help, mother wife and camera operator me in bue in front of the blimp! We have filled the blimp with air to checj for leaks and also to install the cameramount.

Almost without sleeping we catch the flight to Frankfurt and then to Jeddah Saudi Arabia. After landing the temperatures were so hot. I tought that i can´t survive many hours,... you use to get 35 degrees at night and up to 50 degreees during the day,... harsh enviroment

Very well recieved and after a tipical and excelent Saudi meal with the costumer we have made by night a small visit to the place were we will take the shoots. It will be a beautifull 50 floors building in the meedle of Cornich beach. We are requested to take pictures at all direction at all floors and also a panoramic to the sea. After the visit we proceed to the hotel,..

Sleeping just 2 hours as we want to be at the spot realy early in the morning.

First day all went realy bad,... Strong wind, extremely high temperature and humidity, and the place was realy hard,... to huge cranes and 6 giant buildings arouns including a lot of cars and movement in the area,...I saw my radio completely covered with water and thought that nothing will work. The worst is that the blimp was not climbing,... Costumer not happy and big problems,... big stress at the field we even touched with the blimp in a crane due to wind and lack of vertical climb,...

Again to the hotel think a lot of all,.. we even ask the costumer if the helium is pure, it was unbelivable,... the blimp does´t want to climb.

Problem was found that we are not used to fly with such great temperatures, our blimp was tested at 20 degrees at the fresh portuguese summer. To be able to fly we have bought 2 extra 1 meter ballons (Kid Baloons) attach them to the blimp. We only have one cameramount so the payload can´t be less,.. We also bought a very light rope with 260 meters,...

Sleeping just a little again and having to charge and checkk all as we only have one more chance,.. tickets for retur are already bought no margin for error.

We tought to climb during the night with more cold and then when the sun rises we start shooting and descending,.. but at the field again problems,.... the blimp has no energy,...

Last solution, use the new rope, the rope was so thin,.. But yes the blimp starts to work very efectively,... we have climbed up to 250 meters,.. wind conditions were perfect, we have taken all the pictures we want,... perfectly from were we wish to take. Only issue was my fear that the rope breaks,.. It was vibrating so much,..

250 METERS

Problem was proved to be excess payload for the temperature and humidity.

At the end all of us were very tired, but very happy and proud! Costumer loved our work and also our energy solving the problems,..

Flying cam style picture at the end Me with less 10 KG (yelow) and costumer Mr.Fahad
