If you spool up a motor on the bench with no load, it will heat the motor up alot more. For example. on my 600 i spun up the motor with no main blades to check for vibrations, after a little while the motor felt pretty hot. hotter then it has ever been in flight. But in flight it comes down much cooler.

The motor felt really hot after it quit on me Sunday, and that was after 4-5 minutes. I'll bet the one I got was defective. So no load on the motor heats it up more?

I'm pushing my razorblade very hard and I'd estimate 130 to 150 degrees. It doesn't get too hot at all.

Well the motor was delivered to Neu according to the tracking records on July 1st. I have not heard from them so I'll call and see what they are going to do about this razor motor that went bad, or started bad.

emailed Neu motors; they replied that the motor was done and waiting in shipping. Don't know it they repaired or replaced. Anxious to get it now. Now I kinda wish I had the servos that Buildem and Mitch rave about.

Now they tell me the motor shipped two days ago. Their motors may be the best but their customer service and communication practices don't compare to some of their competitors. What are the speed and strength specs again on that servo Mitch?

Check them out here:

Buildem mentioned that they are smaller than the Hitec H65mgs but I was supprised (and happy) how small they really are. That and they claim almost double the torque of the hitec's! Wow.

So which one is it, the 450 or 470? They both look really good but the faster servo would seem to be the better choice; and a bargain if you consider what you're getting.

BTW I got my motor back today. The ticket said that the bearings were replaced. There was no charge, but I couldn't get anyone to answer questions about what happened. I'll try to get it in the air this weekend.

The magnets slipped on the shaft. Thats what happened. hey BOB you didnt upgrade to the Neutron? You had the chance to.

Also if you plan to run the MKS servos. Make sure you have a good BEC. Because they will pull more amps then the eflite servos.

I was so sick with a sore throat and cough for the last 10 days, that I wasn't interested in anything but getting better so I did not follow up. In fact we were going to Miramar Saturday but I just didn't feel up to it. I will put the Neutron in one of the other blades if I have good luck with the razor. Hey diesel, does the TB18 have a bec that can handle the MKS servos? They sound too good to be true; Mitch is raving about them now.

I dont think so. cc25 has the bigger BEC. But i am not sure if that will be enough. Well actually it might be as long as you dont do hard 3d. You should be able to set them on the bench, see if the slow down as you cycle the servos like crazy.

I guess it's a good thing I'm running the CC Phoenix 25. No problem driving the DS450s.

Bob, I asked Buildem the same question about 450 vice 470. He recommended the 450s so I went that way. He was right - they're plenty fast enough - plus you get a little extra torque (not that we really need it on these little machines).
