BOB WHO? Veteran Location: downey, ca., usa
My Posts This: Topic Forum | Well just when it was flying at it's best, I burned up the razor motor today. What a drag. It was performing well when, while rolling to inverted, the heli bogged and fell out of the sky. Remember mine was an attempt to copy Buildem's and dieselracer's blades. Mine is 275g for one thing (theirs are about 240g) and my battery weighs 96g which I know is heavier by far than theirs. So with full collective moves the whole flight (didn't make it to 4 minutes), that little motor got hot. I have carbon fiber blades at 255mm that I really like, 10t pinion like the Campos boys, the pitch was not excessive - about +11 / -11, and I always time my flights at under 5min with a 1050 30C battery. This heli was really flying well and it was windy too; the tail never gave out even once. You are warned when you buy this motor that is not warrantied against burning it up. It did not smell like a burned electronic part but I'm sure that it got too hot because when I touched the motor five minutes after the crash I could not hold my finger on it. Also when I try to initialize the esc and run the motor it just sounds like an old telephone ringing. The shaft, when you turn it, feels weird and you cannot feel the magnets except at one point. It's cooked. |
