THANKS Stan, I'll give him a PM, when you see him please ask him about it if you think of the subject.

I was talking to Lenny today about painting my 230, he is a busy man!

Well it flew and flew quite well. I used the Scale setup that comes with the sk360 and just changed the swash type etc. Has certailnly made the heli feel more locked in. I'm running Futaba 9252's on the cyclics.
I am going to increase the Hiller gain a little more and try it again this afternoon.

The SK360 should work very well with the tandem rotor helicopters, no matter who's. So I am not surprised to read that Rhino or Sandy have good success with it in their models. I am going to use it with my tandem rotor mixer to stabilize a Chinook model that I am working on right now. Details coming soon!

Any update on this? How did it go?

I installed one into a small tandem, but I don't have it setup quite right just yet.

I ran into two different problems depending on how I had it configured. In the default configuration, which worked perfectly with other single rotor helicopters so far, the heli oscillated (porpoised) in the pitch axis about 3 times per second. This made it unflyable. I made changes to decrease the hiller gain, and this stopped the porpoising, but led to a new problem. If I gave the tiniest of stick movements, the machine was stable and I could fly around. But if I gave anything larger, the heli would oscillate wildly in the pitch axis again.

I am confident that the SK-360 can be configured to work great for the application, but I haven't hit the right settings yet.

I am really interested in knowing what settings are working for someone else, and also how much pitch range you have allocated to the DCP for each rotor head.

Thanks,
Joel-

Joel,

As I have said, my Skookum works "OK", but I have not taken the time to optimize it. I have attached the Skookum program that is in my older Vertol now, but as you can see it is from November of 2008. It has not yet made it to the top of the "things to do yet"

Sandy

OK, so maybe I cannot insert the Skookum program into a post. If anyone wants it, please PM me.

Sandy,

Thanks. I will examine your parameters to see how they differ from my own.

Do you recall how much differential collective pitch you have on your heli? For example, with a full elevator command, do you add 5 degrees pitch on one head and subtract 5 from the other (to give you the 10 degrees of cyclic pitch that the SK wants?) Or did you set it up with less differential pitch?
