Yep, check it out 600A + motor, Electron 80/100 A ESC a BEC. Pinion. Your all set to bolt on some blades here. If you get a metal head block you could bolt on 550 or 560's with some 84 mm tailblades and a 6S pack and you've got a monster. I'm flying the you-know-what out of a 6s 4900 Zippy Rhino. Balances perfectly every time---on a balance charger. 560 R-Tech's 84.5 mm KBDD blades on tail all metal upgrades except GRIPS. Not needed and they act like a fuse in a crash and shatter.

Should've bought a sim. Got a bucket of used blades!

Remember, its the "economy" version of the line...per sey.

Besides, there has been at least 30 new heli models out since swift debut? not size to size comparisson but you get it.

Im waiting on Tx batt to charge...of all batts to forget to charge overnight

Hey Pistol Pete. I now have 3 Swifts. A 6S full bling monster, a 5S stock, and a scale Coast Guard I am building. I have owned the first one since they first came out also. I just plain like the way they fly....

Thanks

To Ron... I have a 3s 1800mA lipo in my Tx...I just left it on last time i used it and it depleted it well below 6V

I was able to slowly bring it back using the Triton charger at 100mA.

It now only holds 1500mA but still better than the 600mA stock NiC it came with.

Oh yeah...and I just came back from flying...muahahahaha!

EDITED...noticed broke one leg only...crazy glue and rubber bands...did an auto on the road...skidded at least 25ft...too much negative pitch to stop it...cest la vie!

Its sure hot out there...91 feels like 100...had to stay under a tree.

Whenever I browse through forums on other brands, I see a lot of threads started by people that are having various repetitive issues with their helis. So their forums seem well populated.

Here, as in other Century forums, we probably do not see near as much traffic, simply because the Swift is such a trouble free heli, that we are all just busy flying them so we do not have to post about them.

Is it?

I'm restoring mine as we speak. I'd like to think it's because batteries are cheaper that most are hanging on to their Swift 16s. But where I live, most fly the Raptor E more often. I find it hard to understand, as I think the batteries for Swift 16 are cheaper than Raptor E550. I've got one of the earlier Swifts from 2years back and I'm still amazed at its quality. Sorta regret selling away all its servos and power systems..... Where I live, the Cavalier 550 (Swift 16 offshoot) on a 5S 3300 mAh pack weighed lesser than my 4S 5000 2.4kg Swift and was described as a fun 3D machine. I'm a gonna try running it with 6S 2600mAh 35Cs and the Protos Stock motor.

I think it is also relative to where you live and how competant the seller of the product is in your region. If Brand X have a more aggressive seller, then they will be able to convince more to use their helis, even if they are not as good a buy as the model from Brand Y.

We all know that Century spends very little effort promoting their product. They seem to like to spend it quietly designing and manufacturing great bangs for the buck. Which I think us Century buyers have all identified and appreciate.

I am sure they could pay big name flyers to promote their helis, like some of the more popular brands do, whose product may not be as good, but then the cost of these pilots would certainly increase the cost of their kits also.

Talking of the E-Raptors. The reason they take so much more power to fly, is because they are not unique electric designs like the Swifts are. They are more of a conversion of their nitro series, so they weigh substantially more for the same blade size as the Swifts. But there is no doubt about how much better promoted they are - specially in some countries, like maybe Singapore.

So it is only those who can think more for themselves, that will discover the better value of the Swifts.

Speak for yours. If I were to buy 'Name' brand batteries then I would be paying the big bucks too. I am running a 6S 4900 and that ain't necessarily cheap unless.....you get Zippy Rhinos. Great batteries. So 6s 4900 and 560's and Scorpion Trex motor, 4025-1100.
Rocket Ship.

Should've bought a sim. Got a bucket of used blades!

Oh man, am I glad I came across this thread. I would like to make the move up into a larger electric heli. Being a college student, price is an issue. I have been happy with century sofar with a raven 30 that i am learning on, along with the blade 400.

Anyway, i was debating on between the raptor e550 or the swift 16 and after reading this thread, the swift seams to be the best choice for me.

My question is what flight times should i expect for basic flight with a decent battery?

Go easy on me, I'm new!

I'm no expert because I'm a newly converted Swift owner however; I'm still putting together my set up, but the start up cost is pleasantly affordable. That said; many Helis are becoming more and more "realistically" affordable especially the 500-600 class helis. Give it a whirl!

I think most will agree that you can expect between 7-12 minute flight times depending on your setup of course.....

I sent you a PM as well......

Depending how it is set-up (for what rotor speed & what power system and what battery packs) you can get 4.5 to 6 mins at high rotor speeds and 8 to 12 at lower rotor speeds.

That is one of the big pluses of the Swift. Because it is so light it will happily fly on 4S/3700 battery packs or can be set-up to be a 3D monster on a 6S/5000 pack!

It is a very versatile heli.

I use 5000 mAH Air Thunders and get about 12 to 15 minutes flying scale style. Try 'em you'll like 'em.

Dennisu, How many cells? 4,5, 6? That's a long flight. All slow , moderate forward flight? Air Thunder are fairly expensive. 6S 4900 Zippy Rhino Meg-Kick_A$$ battery About $111.00 plus shipping at Hobbycity. My Next battery is going to be the same one too. 5 minutes of fairly hard 3D with 560mm and Scorpion 4025-1100kv.
