Just a quick update on my own Twinring frame project.
Great to see many posts on these by the way.
Well done Twinring

The setup Im going with:

Scorpion 3026-880kv , pinion undecided yet, probably 17t.
Align 75a esc
Hitec HS85BB on cyclic
Spartan and 9257 on the tail.
SAB 430mm main blades
JR Super Voyager paddles
Align Trex 500 carbon tail blades
Twinring carbon frames
Compass Atom 500 landing gear
Rotorworkz tail fin
Spektrum AR6100 RX
Outrage 6s 2500 30c batteries
Quick of Japan rigid damper set
Quick of Japan medium stretch boom kit for 430mm blades

From previous flights before this frame, Im getting 12deg of pitch and 8deg of cyclic.

I will be shooting for 2700-2800rpm HS.

Very busy with my Gasser right now, so its been a slow project for me.
However Im doing my final run in of my gasser today if the weather holds, and its due to rain for a few days after that.
So during the rain I'll be focussing on getting the QJ finished for this weekend.

Cheers

If you bling it, they will come :D

WOW!! That is an awsome looking heli you got there..
The JR Super Voyager paddles look like they are fast on the cyclic..
The Sab 430mm blades are the best blades that I have tried to date. I have not tried the V-blade or the Rotortech , but I have tried every other blade...
I like the boom supports, who makes them ?
Thank for the pics!!

I notice you got the ball-links on the "inside" hole on the tail grips. I never could get the correct throw using the inside holes, I have always used the outside holes...

not sure who makes the supports. I think you can buy them from Helidirect though.

Spartan gyro has seperate end point adjustments, so getting correct travel is very easy.

Im hoping those paddles will be quick

Thanks for the compliments Jimbo

Cool. I get 3.30mins in the Protos, put back between 1700-1900.
HS is 2880 governed.
Will be interesting to see what times the exact same power package gets in my QJ.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Hi Rafier
Ive had this QJ for at least 6 months now I guess, but Ive had 2 previous QJ SP versions as well.
I bought the Twinring frame maybe 6 weeks ago.
Always either time or money that slow the finishing off down.
Very hard to keep a 3 heli's in the air for regular 3d, always one of them or more demanding attention and money.
So the QJ is my no rush project.
I still have the QJ as I have fond memories of my 1st one, and something about the way they look and fly just does it for me.
Very simple design, easy to work on, good quality, and its not a Trex lol.
The way time is going, it will not be done this weekend.
Have been doing quite a bit of testing with my gasser this week.
Am going over the whole machine to get it ready for the next few months of flying.
Have to replace all the ball links today with new ones, and mount a switch for the voltage reg.....if I can find where I put the damn thing lol.
Anyway, the QJ is getting there.

Needs to have some connectors and the the BEC soldered onto the esc, mount tail servo and make new servo linkage rod, full head setup, mount motor and pinion, mount frame stiffeners, make new mounting holes for the canopy.

Think thats all lol

Cheers

Makes me feel better about taking my time. We are working on budgets at work, so my evenings are short and morning comes early. Weekends are when I have some free time, so it might take me a bit of time to complete mine.

Well Ive been doing some more work on the QJ today.
As you can see from the pics, she's almost ready to go.
I somehow managed to lose my tail servo mount for the frame lol, so I will be buying a Trex 500 one tomorrow which will fit.
At the moment I have it setup for 12 deg pitch and 8deg cyclic.
I have an 18t pinion on there, so HS should be about 2800-2900rpm.
Ignore the messy wiring, Im just dummying it up to what will go where.
Supposed to be storms all weekend, so she will not fly yet.
Soon though.....very soon

If you bling it, they will come :D

I thought the Trex500 boom was smaller than 21mm...

Thanks Jimbo
Im not using the Trex boom clamps, just the servo mount, which is a seperate piece.

http://www.takeoffandland.com.au/pr...f19019ad93bbc5d

As you can see, the carbon piece can be used on the QJ easily , but only for a 9257.
From memory the Trex 600 one is the same style, just larger for full size servo's.

If you bling it, they will come :D
