No problem Richard. Glad to help. Just keep me in mind if you decide to produce more than one Cheyenne.

Hueydriver from Scalercheli sent me some great pictures to use for my Cheyenne build. All I need now are some detail pictures of the nose turret and canopy.

I will add some more pictures maybe tomarrow. The main fuse is getting shaped up and I will be adding the sponsons and verticle tail next. Then on to glassing this portion of the fuse.

Well, I finally got the main part of the fuselage shaped and sanded. I forgot how much work that is. Carve, sand, eyeball it, carve, sand, eyeball it, carve, sand, eyeball it, roll it over and check for true and then carve, sand, eyeball it, again and again and again! You gotta love balsa wood. But, it is right on now! The sponsons are about ready to be added. Then I need to build up the vertical stabilizer. I am having alot of fun with this, and Lord help me I am already envisioning my next project (SH-2 Seasprite). This is indeed a sickness.

My wife helped with these photo's

Hey Butch, The Cheyenne will be about 9.75" longer than the Vario Lama. My wife is only about 5'1", so it looks a might tall next to her . The fiberglass fuse, prior to mechanics and retractable landing gear should be pretty light. The reason for this is that I am going to incorporate as many details as I can into the plug. Panel lines, rivits, hinge lines, screw heads, vents, individual panels, inspection plates and covers etc. This should save a lot of weight for the addition of final details, cockpit and paint. The power system you are using for your S-76 would be a perfect Electric system for the Cheyenne. I am still planning at this point to install my Jetcat PHT3-3 in it though.

Richard - Great progress. BTW I love the look on your wife's face. I've been married for 47 years and have seen this expression many, many times on my bride's face. Good show that and thanks for sharing.

Boyd, you are right on about the look. It is a common plight of the Hobby Wife. It is the, "wow honey.... I sure am glad you included me in this.... no really....what did you say this was", look. I too have seen this many times. But then she goes shopping and all is well.

Some pictures of the port side sponson under construction and being roughed out, with a whole lot of shaping to go on it. It will be very rounded off when completed. Again, I must be sure to have enough sacrificial material being designed in to carve and sand away because I am making this up as I go. More to come.

Hmmmmm,

Maybe you guys should come to NY. I am the luckiest guy in the world, well I think so. Girlfriend not only supports me in this hobby but has her own T-Rex 500ESP an is the QA department for all my builds.

Those of you who know RO know what I am talking about.

Richard,

Your build is looking great. Maybe we will have to see if the e-76 Mechanics will fit in this Bad Boy.

I had some problems with my shoulder this week and was not able to get as much done as I wanted. But here are some update photos showing the progress. The sponsons are about complete. I just have to do some final sanding to get both sides matched up perfectly. The sponsons were very difficult to get right because of their shape and the way they fair into the lower fuselage. Tail surfaces next. Will be glassing the plug soon.

Here are three photos showing some filler being used for the small dings and such that occured during construstion, I like to use nitro-stan with balsa( red auto filler) because they sand at about the same rate. I want to get it as smooth as possible prior to glassing. I finished up the sponsons and they match up perfectly now.
